Where / how to hang outdoor TV?

My patio does not have a flat wall that’s ideal for hanging an outdoor TV. Does anyone have thoughts for how and where I should hang a TV? There is an outlet and cable prewired but it’s underneath one of the bay windows. I would have to run power and internet cables along the wall or ceiling to wherever the tv goes. Thanks!

I am against outdoor TVs unless you live miles from your neighbors. I think it is rude to subject the people next door to the noise.

Well, I’m glad we don’t live next door to each other then.

    Me, too... ;-)

@Jeanne S "I think it is rude to subject the people next door to the noise."

Agree unless the glass completely blocks the sound or he intends to turn the sound off and subtitles on. The neighbor's house if just a few feet away.

I didn't ask your opinion about whether or not I should put a TV outside. I could care less what you think. You have zero clue what you're talking and your ignorance is embarrassing. Please go provide zero value to someone else.

Three writers simply agreed that it was rude to annoy one's neighbors with TV noise. Why this shows "zero clue" or "ignorance" and why it is "embarrassing" is, well, weird. Have you asked your neighbors whether they want to listen to your TV when they're outside?

Why do you need a TV out side !?

Fascinating when people seek free advice and then immediately go on the offensive when they don’t get their money’s worth... ;-)

The only thing worse than listening to my neighbors‘ electronic device outside is listening to their dog barking.

He could watch the Dog Whisperer on his outdoor TV and annoy his neighbor in both ways!

I agree with Larry, all of our neighbors have outdoor TV’s as it’s very common here in Texas, especially to watch football games. We have never heard them as everyone is very considerate of their neighbors and we usually have soft music going on our patio anyway. The only reason we don’t have a TV is much like Larry’s scenario, all windows on patio and can’t find a place to put it. Larry, I think decoenthusiast’s suggestion for a drop-down from ceiling TV would be your best best.

I lived in Florida for a bit and our neighbors behind us had a BIG tv on their patio, along with what looked like a living room of furniture...no pool tho. There was no fence between us either. It was kinda annoying to look over there and see their TV, since it was so big. We could actually watch it if we wanted to, it was that big. But we never heard it. So it wasn't that annoying. We just closed our blinds if we didn't want to see it. Sorry, no advise, just to say it's not that annoying to the neighbors.

All of my neighbors (& myself) have outoor TV’s mounted in their “California “ rooms ... since I rarely watch TV mine is hardly ever turned on. I’ve never heard any of my neighbors’ televisions even though we live outside almost year around ( So Caliornia).

Larry David: "Marge, we just have to get out of the city. It's too noisy here!"

    Mrs. David: "Yes, dear."

LD (in the yard): "Did you hear that motorcycle go by? Some people are just so rude!"

    MD: "Yes, dear."

LD: "Now there's a guy with a boom box! We just gotta get out of the city!"

    MD: "Fine, dear."

LD (now in Florida): "Ah, it's so quiet here. I love it!"

    MD: "It is quiet, dear."

LD: "You can even hear the birds singing! You never heard them in the city."

MD: "I hear them too, dear."

LD: "Now, how am I going to hang that TV out on the patio?"

MD: "But dear, I thought you objected to all the noise."

LD: "Other people's noise, not my noise."

Wow. What a cluster-eff of a thread THIS turned out to be.

I'm sorry you were subjected to needlessly inquisitorial replies, Larry. I have no clue about where one would mount an outside TV, but I hope you're able to find the help you need. You might have better luck in an electronics forum than here.

Haha. Thanks @IdaClarie. This has actually turned out to be a great source of entertainment the past two days.

LOL, you are a good sport Larry. I hope you figure out how to mount your TV.
