I like the movement in the top counter choice, whatever that is. I like that it offers some color with your cabinet selections, which I love. I don't know that I like it with butcher block, but maybe the butcher block will provide some warmth. Having 2 different cabinet colors and 2 different counters means there is a LOT going on in your kitchen. If this is the route you decide to go, I would keep your backsplash very simple.

I definitely do not like the darker counter with your dark cabinets.

The first, lighter, option will look much better with your floors and walnut colored countertop. The darker one is too heavy looking and cool gray.

I do prefer the lighter granite and agree the darker grey/black is just too much with the wood island top. I just have to convince my husband :) .

I debated on leathered Cygnus -- the color is quite unusual and not really captured in your photo, it's browner (at least the slab I saw was). I like your choices with the Cygnus in the photo because the granite is reading more grey on my monitor, but knowing it's much browner IRL I'd say go with the Northern Lights, the Cygnus is going to fight with your other colors. It's a beautiful stone but I think it needs just the right color tones to pull it off.
