I don't know, but you might post this on the California Gardening Forum. THere are quite a few peole down Los Angles way that grow Banana plants.

Bananas of the types you have eaten are all seedless cultivars and are propagated vegetatively. If you only want it for the foliage, fine, grow it from seed. But if you want to eat your bananas, buy a plant, and then over time grow the new pups on, and let the old fruited plant die

Cavendish bananas, which are the kind we buy to eat, are bred to not produce seeds. But there are many varieties of edible bananas that do grow from seeds. Dwarf banana is one such variety. Be aware that the bananas you harvest from those plants will have seeds. making them somewhat less appetizing.
