Very sorry, but we do not know what was behind the painted surface the mural was applied to. I'd expect that painted plywood would allow the paste to adhere just as well as painted drywall. Not sure if any additional reinforcement was put into place or not.

This was done with laminated which is going to hold up considerably better for this purpose & also be easily cleanable.

Thank you so much. One more question- what surface is under the map? I would assume that you need to use 3/4" plywood in order to reinforce the climbing holds but it would seem difficult to apply the map to plywood?

Where did you order the map and what is the cost for the map and installation of the map?

Instructions included with package suggest anyone can do it, or one could seek out the assistance of a professional wallpaper hanger.
