I agree with only 2 pendants and think bigger is better. I’d focus more on 22” rather than 16”. There are tons of pictures on Houzz if you use the search feature at the top of the page.

I vote go with the bigger pendants based on your island dimensions. My island is going to be similar size at 5x8 and planning to do 2 pendants as well so looking to do something substantial enough to compete with the island size. I’ve never been a fan of the 3 pendant look in general.

We used two of the Pottery Barn Flynn pendants over a 4'x8' island, but we have 9' ceilings instead of 10' that you will have.

check out the Hudson Valley Lighting Glendale in large size. there's an island photo on Houzz with those that is gorgeous. large island. i will have similar decision to make.

Gosh!!!! I thought that my 14" wide lanterns (at the base) were large enough for my 7' long island. Now I am second guessing. But it's too late. Already purchased. Besides, I don't want my island to be the focus of my kitchen. I want the windows to be the star.

This is not my kitchen, but the island is the same size. These are my lanterns. I thought they were huge! We also have 10' high coffered ceilings that run overhead.
