missing light fixture bracket?

We took down our vanity light fixtures when we remodeled. I wanted to give them to my parents since they were nice and pricey. However, the back plates or mounting brackets.. must of gotten tossed. The electrician they hired said they are proprietary and the fixtures are useless. I called Savoy.. the mgr and they don’t sell replacements. Are we just outta luck and have to toss these? Seems like such a waste. Thanks!

There are zillions of designs for how light fixtures are mounted. Is the mounting bracket hidden or visible when the fixture is mounted? Unless you can provide photos of how these mount to the wall or electrical box, it's impossible to know if a fix can be suggested.

Thank you! Here’s a photo. What got tossed is the metal bracket behind the square chrome backplate. I may be calling it by the wrong name. Hate to waste two of these because we lost those pieces. Thank you!

I don't see a picture, but if it's just a metal plate then it could probably be created somehow from scratch if it's not a standard piece.

So weird! I see the pic. Here’s another try.

Nice fixture! What holds the square plate onto the wall? Is there an exposed fastener, like a screw on the bottom edge that I can't see that locks the fixture onto the wall??

I’m not sure.. I took them over to my parents. That’s when they were told there was no bracket to hang them. I can snap a couple pics of them when I get over there in a day or two. I appreciate your response. Hate to waste these 2 fixtures.

It might be a proprietary bracket, but that doesn't mean that it would be hard to fabricate something from standard parts or from a piece of sheet metal. Make sure you photograph the back of the fixture, the part that goes over the electrical box...it's hard to tell anything from looking just at the front.

My mom sent a couple photos. Maybe this helps? Thank you!!

it looks like there is a hole in the top and bottom of the backplate and there would have been a pair of bolts with decorative heads that went through these holes and screwed in to a hidden mounting bracket. Such a bracket was likely a strap of heavy gauge metal that was the height of the backplate with right angle bends at the ends and a threaded hole on each of these "ears." This bracket would screw on to the electrical box, the backplate would have been positioned over it, and the decorative bolts would have been screwed in at the top and bottom. This is not an off-the-shelf bracket, but something I could make in my shop in about 10 minutes. All it would require would be a strip of metal with a right angle bend at each end, a pair of holes drilled and tapped to take the mounting bolts, and a hole or holes to screw it to the electrical box. I'm guessing you may not have the skills or tools to do this, but a handyman should be able to fabricate this easily. It seems a shame to throw out such nice fixtures for lack of a simple bracket.
