Where is your kitty litter box

Looking for a creative way to "disguise" the kitty litter box. What have you done and how do you control the spread of litter

In our custom built home (that we lost last year in a wildfire) we had the kitty boxes in our mechanical room (furnace, water heater, etc.) that was just off the mud room. We had the builder frame out a nice “hole” in the wall so we didn’t have to keep the door open, and they could come and go. We blocked it off when we had parties, etc. so the kitties didn’t escape to the outside with people coming in and out. In our new home, we’ll put them under the stairs in the basement - there’s a storage area there with a door (though we’ll have to get used to keeping the door open a crack. I am a sucker - making the DH put in an outlet there so I can put a night light so the kitties aren’t using the boxes in the dark :)

My friend says shes getting some kind of end table which opens in the back for the box to slide in. I once kept one in an unused bathtub

We had a fake candle on a timer at night for our cat because the room was pitch dark where we kept her food and litter box.

All the best to you as you recover from your horrible loss. So very sorry that happened to you.

In our custom house we have a dedicated cat closet with a small opening at the bottom of the door for the cats to enter/exit the closet. The litter box is on a platform with stairs. This platform makes it so much easier the clean the litter box and the cats have no trouble climbing the stairs. We have an overhead light with a switch for light when we are cleaning and a night light for the cats when the closet door is closed. We keep other cat supplies on an overhead shelf. Could be converted to a regular closet in the future.
