@Patricia Colwell Consulting I was leaning towards the same. Although since the sink is 24 inch deep and the false wall is 10 inch deep if the cabinet face is flush with false wall the cabinet will be 10 inch deep and it's door 24 inch behind the sink front. This limits the accessibility of cabinet for top shelves. I was wondering how tall should I build that cabinet. Any ideas?

You did not specify, but do you have a rod nearby that you can hang things on straight out of the washer or dryer? You might want to consider the cabinet with an attached rod above the sink below the cabinet. They do come in handy.

Cabinet. Garages get a lot dirtier/dustier than inside the house -- the more you store behind closed doors the better.

It seems like adding a cabinet above the ledge might work well since you will be able to store things in it instead of on the shelf. Here is a laundry design of ours to help you visualize what it might look like.

Yes used it many times. It is pretty good. I am not a laundry savvy person to know the difference (I mix white and colors so you should probably not take my words seriously here) too much.

So are you suggesting to leave the ledge as it is to act as an open shelve and then on top say after 12-16 inch from top of the ledge add a wall cabinet?
