Will be nice to see what the pros offer on this one. Would probably be big $ bucks but I would look into removing both driveways and the center stone and doing a paver style or something that covers both areas together. Trees in center could have a short wall for nice sitting area. Any other homes nearby with same set up? Good luck!

Yes, lots of ways the pavers could be done to unite the areas, and incorporate some landscaping too. I do like those trees!

Make the driveway a turn-around U, paint the house so the garage doors blend in with the siding and the front door and porch pops from the house.

Those trees are very poorly positioned. They completely hide the front door making the two garages too prominent. It wouldn't be cheap, but I'd remove them and plant some smaller, in scale trees/shrubs to frame the house.

Remove the trees . IMO they are just adding to the separation .Do you need 2 garages ?

There are several houses similar ( although MCM single level ) in our area. i don’t think it’s necessary to remove all of the trees. That would be VERY expensive where I live. Perhaps just remove the largest, thick trunked one? Paint and hardscape might help. I would paint the doors the same as the body of your house & somehow put some emphasis on the entry via paint or landscaping in that area. Paint the front door ( & structure above ) in a different color, add plants ( in large pots if there’s no planting beds there ),a bench, things like that to bring focus to your single entry. Right now there’s too much matching on both sides, even those two matching windows on either side of your door.

These are all really great suggestions! I had never really thought about getting rid of the palms out front but it does make sense-I just have no idea about costs. We did try and update the island area but it still looks like a duplex. My husband wants to add a new front awning with new warm wood pillars, shutters for the windows and a new wood door. I’m thinking removing that big palm in the middle bc that blocks the entry and adding nice decor around the front door-maybe new door or paint?

Palm trees have almost no root structure. They can be dug out and moved when they are hooked up to a backhoe so they can be carried to a new location.

The trees are worth a lot of money and shouldn't be discarded, just repositioned so you can create a circular driveway

At the very least, cut out the dead fronds and clean up the palms. They can be pruned.

An inexpensive quick fix would be putting some plants or flowers either side of the front door. Something that gives a little height. I'm thinking if the front door is the focal point where the eye is naturally drawn, then people won't look as much at the 2 garage doors .:)

I would ditch the shutters, because they don't seem right for the house. You might beef up the trim a bit around the windows, and especially the front door (make it at least as thick as the side windows.)

Do not do 2 different garage door colors - match both to the siding. Give your front door a standout color.

Your spouse has a similar idea to my first thought (but I take it farther) - build a pergola like structure across the entire front, all the way across the garage doors (both of them.) Make the "roof" of it solid in the front porch area but open structure on either side. Not something as heavy as the current porch roof, I think - give the house more of a tropical feel, which is what it wants.

Accessorize the porch with potted palms & succulents. Are your little palms a variety that will stay small? I'd move the front one to match the one by the porch.. Do look into moving (or removing one or two of) the large palms.

I like the sage green with the wood, that wood would work with the pergola idea.

Paint garage doors to match house siding, so they blend in (vs. stand out).

Paint front door so it will stand out (used roof color, to avoid busy look from too many colors).

I would go the same color for body and garage doors.

And dark or bright front door

and cover garbage bin.

Paint the garage doors and trim the same colour as the siding. Important- to really make them disappear, don't frame the garage door with white trim. Paint it the same colour as the garage door and siding. Same idea as these pictures for interior walls.

Remove as much of the palms as feasible. At least remove the low ones and the lower leaves on the tall ones.

Now that you've remove the things you don't want to look at, paint the front door a contrasting colour to draw the eye. Add some substantial decor items in the same colour e.g. a painted bench, large flower pot etc.

I agree with the circular drive idea. Since the palms are so valuable, you might sell them to a nursery to remove them. One would be plenty.

So many great ideas in this post. I would also add that you may want to put a bench or other decor to one side or the other - make one side of your drive the pathway/walk to the front. Anything that reduces the symmetry, such as the paint options people suggest, will help. It looks like two now because it is split in half and symmetrical on both sides.

Hate to suggest ir but the palms trees block the view of your house so that it's hard to see. Can palms be relocated? If so, I would suggest that so there is a clearer view. Can totally understand why people would think it's a duplex but am not sure that is a terrible thing.

1. Shorten driveway on one side, just enough to pull into and (three-point turn) back out of garage.

2. Extend that driveway across front of house to connect other side.

3. Move palm tree to area where driveway was removed, to block view of other garage door and short driveway.

End result: Single driveway, with only one garage door visible.
