What about the plumbing?

Why not do a rain head out of the ceiling? The plumbing would run horizontally into the back wall, up and into the ceiling.

The plumbing and expense gods are both against this idea.

In regards to the plumbing, I am assuming the plumbing is going down and not up the wall. The water heater id downstairs directly below the bathroom. I thought about a rain head. The ceiling inside the shower slopes but flattens out (think A'frame)..T&G.

Rain heads come out of sloped ceilings all the time. The trick is getting the escutcheon to work (usually means teaming the whole larger)

Thank you. I saw some different ideas and they come with a separate arm. Does the arm have to be higher for any reason or can it be the same mounting height as the main valve?

Attached are photos of a couple ideas, such as split the wall vertically between framing and glass, put the shower valves on the pony wall with a hand-held shower head, or place just the shower valves on the pony wall.

I'm considering doing the same to a small guest bathroom. I'd love for all the plumbing to be in the half wall. I think the best way to do this is to do a hand-held shower head that is mounted (suction, glass glue, pre-cut hole) in the glass at the desired height. I don't *think* it would be hard to do that with a standard hand-held kit if the hose is long enough.

My biggest driver here is that this shower is on an external wall so other than the entry side and where the water is now is not able to hold any plumbing. It would get so much more light if it could be a half wall. With the external walls I don't think I could even try a rain shower.

I think seeing the plumbing to the shower head would be a huge ugly look. No matter what you need to hide that unless you want to spend a fortune on chromed plumbing . Why can't the plumbing go up another wall? Then the pony wall with glass is a great idea. I think the panel up the center to hide the plumbing would work with the glass on either side .

If we get the glass installed professionally can they just drill through the glass to support the shower head

No. Can't drill or cut tempered glass. Has to be a custom order.

I just googled "shower head mounted to glass" and this came up.

You just need to pre-select the bar and give the specs to you glass door company so that they can cut the correct holes before glass is tempered.

My only issue is that it doesn't look like the first bar has enough space between it and the glass to allow the showerhead to swivel down enough to point the water where one would normally stand. Happens with most handheld bars and is a major design flaw. Second one is a bit better. I would use a shower bar from Jaclo which gives you a bigger projection and the ability to angle the showerhead even more.

It could only be done with a handheld like chispa shows.
