i dont know about your CM rock idea ... you know the usual .. need a pic of the spot you are thinking about ... etc ...

im sure you are going to have to spend some money on planting your new landscape.. im not sure a big rock would be money best spent at this phase of the project.. unless of course.. if you already have the rock ....

I love landscape rocks! We put them in our front yard of our current house and previous one. They look great in a naturalistic landscape but would look out of place in a more formal one IMHO. Don't know what your yard looks like but if you use them the bigger the better.

Hi, Ken, mojave. The interior of the house is all painted. The mirror wall in the DR has been removed and painted. We found a cartoon drawn on the wall and "1984" written, under the mirror, haha. The LR and the 2 smaller BRs now have beautiful ceiling fans/lights. Ordered plantation shutters yesterday. Just waiting to officially sign contractor to tile bathroom with the glass mosaic tile I got, remove old kitchen cabinets and install the new ones, tile kitchen floor and install new beefed up locks and stuff. Work is coming along.

Outside, no landscaping yet. I am using my MacbookPro, as my iMac died after 10 years and I'm waiting for new iMac to arrive. Thus, I don't have my stored current photos on this Macbook nor do I have my Photoshop. I had to copy a Google shot from 2 years ago to provide a picture and that shot is not current, as ALL the overgrown bushes are now removed, leaving plain grass. I want to put a landscape rock (not a huge one!) where the city sidewalk meets my sidewalk, on the side of the sidewalk opposite the driveway (don't want to create a hazard to scrape the car when I pull into the driveway). This crape myrtle gets 3-4' high and wide, with sort of cherry colored flowers. I wanted to put it behind the rock, and then plant a few smaller perennials around the rock, with a splash of annuals for color.

I would also appreciate suggestions for plants where those bushes once were. I don't want evergreens which have to be trimmed, and which provide burglars cover. This is a southern exposure, so roses would be good among the planting. You can barely see the 4' stone planter peeping out in front of the porch. I am raising Crimson Flame geranium cuttings this winter to fill that, to be joined by trailing portulaca and maybe petunias.

What a cute house! I actually like the landscaping in your pic but it sounds like you got tired of shearing shrubs. Although I love boulders, with your beautiful lawn i wouldn't put anything against the front sidewalk. Looks like with the shrubs removed you have a lot of room to plant in your foundation beds.

Of course its your dream yard and you can always change things around if you don't like something. Good luck with all your changes.
