Help pairing BM Pale Oak with what color?

Looking for a color recommendation for pairing BM Pale Oak on wall with a darker taupe color for wainscoting in 2 rooms. Was planning for Pale Oak as the primary color throughout the main level with 18' ceilings and tons of natural lighting. However, the two front rooms with the wainscoting are north facing and not a ton of natural light. I originally was thinking Revere Pewter as the paired color but worried that both my Pale Oak and Revere will be too dark. Anyone pair Pale Oak with a darker trim/wainscoting? Maybe I need to lighten both colors? Thanks!

Pale Oak likes blue/greens, so I am going to suggest B.M. Super White (which also supports blue/green as a "go with") for wainscoting and all the trim. I am not a fan of painting wainscoting a color darker than the wall above, nor painting wainscoting a different color than the rest of the traditional trim, which you show in your photo.

So what white is the wainscoting now?

Do you not like a darker wainscoting because it's too trendy or just personal taste? I've seen it done recently and love the look and figured if it doesn't wear well I can change it back to a white. We just bought the house so I don't know original paint colors. Here's the inspo that started me down the darker wains/trim....

Darker woodwork in beige, taupes and grays are my favorites! Saw it a loooong time ago in a hotel in Paris and I’ve been in love since.

No, it is just a personal thing about wainscoting, particularly with traditional trim, which you have. I see it more with whatever color paint or wallpaper above it. I like the flow with the same white through out.
