I had a console table with seating cubes behind my sectional. Since my kids used it all the time for eating snacks while watching tv, any decor had to be taken down all the time...it became a pain. The lamp doesn't belong there, do something light and simple to remove. Also, having the cubes fit that tightly together, people will need to step over them and there is no elbow room. I would use 2 cubes only if this is used for seating...if just for looks, then keep all 3. My kids really loved using it, but for adults, it was a bit tight.

To be clear, we wouldn’t be using it as an extra seating/eating area often. It’s just hubby and I, no children. Taking any small decor pieces down if people were going to use the piece wouldn’t be that big of a hassle.

I would de clutter the bookcases or put doors over them and leave the console empty as well. Too much visual disruption in the room.

Oh and the leg room under the smaller table is good! I am 6'1" and have no problems.

I like the way Lane styled it. No pictures. You’ll see the backs of them when facing the sofa. I think a plant might be an nice addition to your console.
