I looked behind the unit and it looked like one of the clamps is came open--the clamp for the power cord to the dryer (this is a stacked unit). It might just be that power cord that was hitting the unit at a certain speed, but I will know when I run it next time which should be tomorrow.

It wasn't the clamp issue mentioned above.

I had a service call this morning and the technician immediately found that the drain pump had fallen of the bulkhead. He secured that and proceeded to check the shocks, removing one of them, and said it looked fine. The only other thing he said was it could be an issue with the bearing. If that was the case, he said I should have seen debris in the filter (which I did not) and he said if that was the problem then it probably wouldn't be worth trying to get it fixed (estimated repair would be about $1500). He didn't find anything other than that. He tested the machine with a couple of different sized loads and the sound didn't happen. I am running a regular full wash cycle now so hopefully it holds up. If it does, then it means it was just the drain pump falling off.

I'm not knowledgeable on any of this so I'm just repeating the terms that he used and what was on the invoice.

Edit: The issue does seem to be resolved. I don't hear knocking anymore and I'm running a pretty heavy load. Normally by this time in the cycle, I would have heard it. So relieved.
