So over having a bedskirt!

Trying to find a king size bed, but see choices from $300 to $3000. What's the difference? Thinking I need upholstered, but not sure. Would love an opinion!

You don't need a bed. I have never had one in my adult life. I just use the bed frame that comes with the mattress and hang something interesting at the head of my bed. Right now it is an old hand-made quilt. One time it was a map of London tubes under Plexiglas.

You have an interesting wall that a headboard would hide.

Bed skirts help keep dust from getting under the bed.

But a simple wood or metal PLATFORM and a separate upholstered head board. The difference between a 300 dollar bed, and 3000.00 is what you'd expect. Quality and longevity. Squeaks or no squeaks. A couple years or nearly forever,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Put a wood frame with any upholstered head board you want! Or use it alone.

( bed skirts do NOT keep dust from under a bed. ) .............or behind it. Good heavens.

Bed skirts are avoidable with a large enough bed spread. King sized beds I don't find worth the space they take up and the added $$$$ for bedding. A head board? I can agree with the post about your wall being interesting enough--but I find they corral the pillows. DH made ours pretty low..and yes I hung our wedding quilt above but I like the headboard. It doesn't show at all above the pillows but it is just more comfortable than a wall when reading before sleep.

I'm wanting a cleaner look with a platform or panel bed. I have dark walnut floors and my nightstands and dresser are a medium tone, so I didn't know if I should pick something all upholstered or whether I could go with wood. My nightstands are 26" high, so I don't want the bed to end up too low. I hope this makes sense!

I'm thinking about this bed from West Elm. The height is 46".

There's a sand color that would work in my space.

Too young to know that getting “up” out of a bed on the floor is harder than one that is raised up?

Would this go in the space?

That's a nice looking bed. Where is it from?

I'll let designers advise on if it goes in the space, but it's nice. BTW, I love my upholstered headboard. I sit in bed and read in the evenings. It's super comfy for that. It's just a headboard I had made which I use with a metal frame and a longer bedspread to cover the box spring and frame. I'm also over bed skirts. Although they did cover a lot of stuff I store under the bed so they had their purpose for me.

Looking for something interesting. This is wood and metal. I like mixing styles, but unsure if my nightstands, etc., will go with this.

@J. Appelbaum I like all your choices but I think the upholstered one and the dark one would look best with your existing furniture. Will you look at a rug and drapery for the room too? I think that would add some softness and make it look more finished. Where is this last bed from, the dark one?

The one with the cane is West Elm and the dark wood and metal one is Pottery Barn. Yes, I want a rug, but that too is another challenge. Something simple, I think.

Yes, to panels! I've already started with an ivory linen. Making them, so one is up now.

IMO if you do not wan to have to have a bedskirt get a platform bed BTW no one needs a box spring we have never had one in 54 yrs. I would suggest to not go fabric for the headboard unless it is washable and of course removeable . I aslo read in bed and I use a towel behind my head I have a microfiber headboard it is washable but oil from your head will stain almost any fabric.
