ARS strikes again - I am not making this up!

I just got my copy of the July/August 2022 edition of AMERICAN ROSE, the magazine of the American Rose Society. On the cover, to my delight, was a photo of a bloom of Cl Crimson Glory. I was delighted as classic or older even HT roses don't get as much attention as they should IMO from the ARS. However, when I looked at the photo and rose info at the bottom of page 5 of the magazine, it says that a delightfully fragrant rose (I have never encountered anyone who cannot smell it), which is famous for its fragrance, has "no fragrance".! Not light fragrance, not occasional fragrance, but NONE. Now, fragrance is frequently something which is light, or can be noticed by one person but not another person, but this is ridiculous, and does not help the ARS's reputation, which was not good to start with.

That's really unfortunate.

Just the sort of error they should NOT make.

Which is why I dropped my membership a while back.

I have not renewed either. When Pat Shanley was involved there were more OGR articles.

I actually sent an email to the ARS, addressed to two people who were listed as "editors" of the magazine. I will let you know if I get a reply. Jeri is right - specific data about a specific rose ought to be something they can get right.

I also noticed this immediately when I opened up my latest magazine. Not only that, but the word ”fragrance“ was misspelled as ”fagrance“. Great job, ARS, with your stellar job in promoting a classic hybrid tea known and loved the world over…

That would be hilarious if it weren't so sad! I consider Crimson Glory as setting the standard for Classic Rose scent!
