What paint colors is similar to your backsplash? The others seems to have too much warmth and that will bring out more blue in the cabinets…so look for cooler colors of neutral…

    Look at BM classic grey

GM! I saw your paint chips and went back through the thread. Did the florescent lighting ever come up? It is a *very* cool light.

I'm looking at the pics you posted right before the new floors, from the other side. You can see a blueish glow from the room with the mask balloons on the wall. (Apologies, not making fun, what are they? I actually like the quirky mid mod accessories in your home.)

Can you take paint chip pics from that side of the kitchen? The cabinets look very blue in there--this is the first time I could really see it.

The backsplash and floor give it a soothing spa-like feel, and I don't want to steer you wrong. Pros?

😁 glad to see some company! Ditto, and I would like to see what the grey looks like.

In the morning the cabinets always look that blue. Early evening you can see the violet in them and after that they look grey. This is the issue that I’m having the color change is pretty drastic!
This is 3:30 in the afternoon. No lights on just natural light.

The paint color has to go through to the living room so it has to work with both. There is no place to break it up.
Here is the whole view from where the dining room table and chairs will go and the round the wall to the living room.

We are in the process of trying to clean the tile and drywall mess and put it back together…

@drblount10 they are moon faces by the artist Sergio Bustamante. They are unique which is why I like them.

That looks great! There may be a fluorescent bulb out there that is not so blue.

I don't know if you can tell, but it looks soooo much better with the backspash and floor!

This is the main light in the kitchen, I hate it. The electric box that the light goes over is like 12x12 so it’s quite large and it’s not centered in the room. I dont know about putting a different light up that can be centered…I don’t even have a clue as to what would actually work or look good.

I already had a sample of Classic Gray so I painted it above the cabinets here.

GM! When are the painters coming? Are you painting the whole area? BC you could just paint the soffits for now (now that I can see the other rooms).

I'm not sure about BM Classic Gray in there. I'm either thinking a cool or putty white like your SW trim color, or take a backsplash tile with you and have paint color matched. You might also take backsplash tile and then go 2-3 shades lighter.

I'd also look for primer and paint all in one to make sure the gold is not coming through.

The painters are trying to come tomorrow but I’m going to push it out more. I don’t want to rush to make a decision. The paint has to work in the kitchen and the rest of the house. I feel like a lot can go with the other part of the house, but the kitchen is just a thorn in my side. With the drastic changes from morning to night trying to find something in the middle is difficult.
I wish I could find the lighting and paint to get the cabinet color back to the grey-ish color because right now they just look so blue where before the floors they were grey-ish, blue-ish and a touch of violet.
I just want to throw the whole house away. 😂

I get it! Well, the floors needed the update anyway, and they look great! They also make the cabinets look better too. I agree, take your time on paint color, and even just do the soffit.

Brutal honesty: I kind of wish they had let you pick the color instead of them, esp since they installed it and then told you there was nothing they could do.

The paint color o your soffits looks to have alot of green undertone. Not sure I'd have gone with that, but if you like it then great. It's very important to see the paint color in the room as the avaiable light brings out surprises. Your cabinets have a cooler blue undertone while the paint is a warer green undertone. All things you need to consider. Picking out your backsplash needs the same consideratio, warm vs cool. Bring several samples in your kitchen line them up along the counter agaist the wall and pick that first. Pain is the last thing you should pick, vthe options are almost limitless. Good Luck. So far nice job on your reno!

The classic grey looks great..it is a really nice neutral..can you paint a board or piece of wood and hold it next to your countertop.

Barbara the paint is old paint, it’s not done yet. I’m still trying to pick a color. There are definitely limitless options, which is the problem.
I can go get another sample of the classic gray, I ended up spilling the sample paint all over the floors. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Luckily I got it all cleaned up

I would paint the soffits the same color as the cabinets, which will expand the visual height of the kitchen. It will also embrace the cabinet color rather than fight it. All of your selections (flooring, backsplash and countertop) are beautiful and work with the cabinet color.

Why not just match your backsplash color for walls?

Just read above that your paint needs to work in the contiguous space. I agree with Home Interiors with Ease that matching the backsplash would work well.

GM, was looking at recent pics. I did not know you had Agreeable Gray throughout. The soffit was looking gold to me, then the Classic Gray sample looked lighter gold. So I apologize if I misled you on wall/soffit color.

You made beautiful choices on the floor and backsplash! How are you liking the floor?

I love our floors and the kitchen is growing on me. Going to get paint samples today of Classic Gray and Silver Satin which come up as being very similar colors on SW website. I already have the silver satin samplize card that I had up in the previous pictures that I like.
I have no lighting in my kitchen right now so it’s difficult to see, which makes me nervous..

Is there a SW color that is close to the BM classic gray? The paint company only uses SW paint and while I know they will do a color match, everything I’m reading says it’s better to stick the original manufacturer.

Hi Erica, just saw this. Busy day. My gut tells me you should . . . go with "your" gut. Do lots of sampleboards of BM and SW.

Ask if you buy the paint will they use your Benj. Moore. Remember some of us suggested matching the backsplash color too. Take a tile with you to match.

Finally, take pics and look at all samples in more than 1 area of the kitchen.

Erica get lighting in your kitchen before picking your paint color.

The color on the right is color matched to the backsplash.
Because it’s a color that will be in the whole house and it’s definitely a “cool” color, I’m wondering if it will be to cool.

This is 5pm natural light also, we have a handyman coming to change the lighting box to be more centered with the room, so still no light.

    Forgot the pic

GM, I did not realize lighting was removed. What are you putting in after centering the light box? This is important bc it will change how the color looks (@Home Interiors with Ease and others).

Also, please paint sample boards--canvases, or dollar store white display board. This way you can move the boards around to different lighting areas, and see what the color looks like. You might also try priming the soffit. Both colors from this pic still look grey with gold.

Pros, please weigh in: a while back on the thread, pics of the other side of the kitchen showed lights with a bluish tone. Will a warm white flourescent bulb help?

The light that I have for the kitchen is actually changeable from 2000k to 4000k. Considering I have no clue what will work.
The painters were trying to come this week, but I’m going to have to put them off again. I was hopeful with the color match to the backsplash, but right now I’m not liking it in any natural light, Morning or evening.

Paint sofits to match the cabinet to expand the space.

35k to 4k is better for a kitchen.

FYI you don't have to paint the whole house this new color. Now that I'm seeing the pics, I also think it's time for lighting like Home Int suggested.

With the lights off, on my phone the cabinets looked pale grey with gold walls. The backsplash looked a beautiful light beige that matched the countertop. With the lights on later in the thread, there was a blue glow you could see from the adjoining room. The walls looked white, the tile and counter still looked the same, just lighter, and the cabinets looked light blue-grey.

They make warm white bulbs for flourescents. You could also experiment with lamps or under cabinet lighting around the house to see how colors will look. However you light the kitchen the most is the lighting you need for picking paint color.

You might also use a sample board to make sure the paint is color matched to the tile. Put it beside the tile and look at it in different lighting.

The kitchen over the cabinets is the agreeable gray, which is the same color that is painted on the Roman brick.
The walls in the rest of the house is white, which now I can see a touch of yellow in.
I like the Silver Satin samplize piece that I have and I’ve put it in each room, but I haven’t pulled the trigger on that one because I want to make sure it works on the kitchen when there are lights.

We already have under cabinet lighting in the kitchen, that’s the only light we have in there.

The lighting will be updated in the kitchen after the electrician comes on Friday. I have the semi flush light that I posted a couple of weeks ago (in a different color) that will go over the sink. The other light that I have can be changed anywhere from 2000k to 4000k.

Prior to the tile being installed the light in the kitchen was already 4000K but I hate it, but to get something new the electrician has to move the box in the ceiling. (None of the projects in this house has been easy because someone along the way before me seemed to have done something all wrong)

I’m just trying to find one neutral color that will work in the kitchen over the cabinets and the walls in the living room and hall that will also go with a Navy Blue that I’m doing in my bedroom. I can’t seem to get 1 color much less a couple of different colors for my house. Lol.
I don’t want to do the same color over the cabinets because I don’t even like the color that much (but I can live with it) and I would still have to find the other color for the rest of the house.

Yes, good move to wait until light is installed! Thanks for bringing me up to speed!

    We have light!!
I’m not sure about the light over the sink, looks yellow/orange?
What kind of bulb should I put in there?
One picture has both lights on, the other just the 1 over the sink and the other just the ceiling light.

A cool light bulb or in daylight.

Yay! . . . ? Erica, thank you for sharing, the pictures look great, but I am wary bc my previous posts. Can you share pics of the other side, plus what kind of new ceiling light you have? The light over the sink is unique and a great color!

Get a 3500k bulb for that fixture over the sink.

I use all daylight bulbs in my kitchen it gives a “daylight” type light we love it…not warm not blue..4000k….at any equivalent watt you would normally use…for example a 60watt would be 8W in led bulb.

The ceiling like is changeable. I have it right now at 4000k.
The bulb over the sink is like 75 watt soft white.

Look into LED lights which are cool white, which will blend better with your gray cabinets. Looks great!
