Agree with Lyn, I'd introduce pattern and color. Ruggable is great.

Ruggable has a lot of rugs that should please kids and mom. They are washable! And there are themes and colors that will help set a tone for the pretty bland room that will keep the kids interested in spending time there. We have one in the "kids' kave" at our vacation rental prop.

I woud for sure do a Ruggable rugs get gross in kids play spaces .

With the oversized sofa and ottoman, I don't see why you need a rug. Not much floor space.

Maybe more colorful pillows and a comfy colorful throw?

Might suggest a natural sisal rug for your room. It should make a good anchor for your furnishings without calling too much attention to itself.

Sisal and barefeet a really horrible combo and sitting on siasal even worse .

Im leaning towards the natural color for the pottery barn rug..... my son has the gray in his room it doesnt shed and its super sofT

Have you considered trying a rug with a little color and adding pops of color around? We think a rug with some blue might work wonderfully. Please take note of these images we have included below with rug ideas.
