installing shower control in existing block wall

I’m remodeling a small bathroom (5x7) and am using a stationary glass door at shower head side so would have to reach in and get soaked if control not relocated.

the closest wall is the outside wall which is cinder block. only other option would be up amd over through the ceiling yikes! any ideas?

You are going to have to provide a diagram.

Why are you locating the entrance door not at the end where the controls are?

In theory you can run pipes wherever you want. When I did my shower I wanted to have a hand held shower at one end so they ran whatever plumbing was necessary for the second hand held shower head to be at the end although it is controlled at the opposite end with the diverter (I have three shower heads and a three way diverter). I don't see why I couldn't have had an over head shower head at the end or one that came out of that wall if I had wanted. As I recall it was relatively inexpensive to have it done at the beginning when all of the rough plumbing was being installed.

i know they can do it overhead and run it across but im curious if there is another option that will be less expensive

    thanks for reading!

So it seems that you now have a sliding door so that you can use the controls and then slide the door back in place to enter since the vanity effectively blocks direct entrance? So if the door no longer slides to open there would no longer be access to the controls on that wall.

FWIW I actually love the pink and gray tiles and personally would keep those in place and decorate around them - change the floor to something more in keeping with the period and change the vanity as well. The tile work and gray tub is fabulous and the tiles look as if they are in great shape.

This might not be the fix you are looking for - my controls are at the entry but I actually find it easier to get in the shower and use my diverter for the hand held and point it away from me until the temperature is the right temperature which is probably about 15 seconds. I don't get deluged with cold water but obviously if I wanted or anyone else wanted they could access the controls from the outside.

it's true, the tiles are in great shape and theyre from 1956! i want to something different though. i think i'll end up scrapping the idea of stationary glass panel and just using a shower curtain. saves the cost of running the pluming overhead AND the glass panel.

Get a sliding door that both panels move.
