So true Lynn! How I miss my favorite veteran, my dad! He served in the army during the Korean war. My brother is also a veteran 👨‍🏭

My father and three uncles served in WW2. Two of those uncles never made it back. The other was captured, and finally freed from a POW camp. Those memories, he could never bring himself to share with us. My husband ran a MEDEVAC hospital during Vietnam. Our son served two tours in A and now serves our country in a different sector.

Brave and honerable men, all.

Congrats lakeaffect! What a lovely couple! DH served in the Navy many moons ago.

We are visiting Aiken, SC this week. They have a wonderful tribute to veterans downtown. Banners are hanging from the light posts with names and pictures of veterans and the war(s) they served in. I was deeply touched by this.

As an Army Reserve veteran, please remember to honor those on the appropriate holiday. Veterans and those serving do not like to be thanked when we should be honoring those that lost their lives while serving.

@Allison if we place specific protocols on how and when a veteran should be acknowledged, we'll be viewed as distant, if not ungrateful. And some Vets do want a thank you which is ok. Let's be pleased they're aware of any of the holidays. Also, this post originated on Nov 11, 2022 on Veterans Day. It was pushed to the top because of a spam post.

I did not say don't thank a Veteran on any given day. My main point was most veterans and those currently serving do not want to be thanked for their service on Memorial Day when we are honoring the fallen that died while serving.
