Cabinets are painted, currently dark blue. Floor is wood look ceramic tile. Counters will be white with slight gray streaking.

We recently did a butcher block tabletop in a laundry/mudroom remodel. It can be done and it looks stunning - client loves it. Make sure you have whoever installs it seal the wood. You do not want it exposed to excess moisture and dampness because that can breed bacteria and cause rot, especially in a space where it can get very warm and damp.

Hi Cossart. But did you mix materials as in counters in stone but the tabletop in butcher block. Just wondering if mixing makes it look like an obvious add on.

@tahoetomboy yes we did, we mixed with white quartz with gray streaking. The cabinetry is painted white dove and the butcher block extends across the table. Here are some of our preliminary 3D mock ups of the space. We are still waiting to get our professional photography back post-install.

It was a gallery style laundry/mudroom space - see attached materials board and 2d floor plan view. Make sure your butcher block wood finish/stain does not compete or clash with your wood look flooring. Try to stay in the same color family and it should be beautiful. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much as this is really helpful! And good point to make sure floor and counter in same wood family. I am also using white with gray streak quartz and painting cabs in gray (I think).

@tahoetomboy you are so welcome! As long as all your color families are similar you should be golden. We personally love mixed materials because it brings extra depth and interest into a space. Wood also makes a room feel warmer and more welcoming!
