Happy New Year to you all

This will be a simple wish list swap.

To join, list 5 of your current most wanted

and # 6. will be Your favorite_______

Please message me the names of people you can fill wishes for so I can make sure everyone receives something.

We won't have partners, but everyone should send at least one wish to one person. Or to as many as you can.

Don't buy new seeds. Just share what you have. It's okay if you just send a few.

It's keeping our groups and gardening friendships going that counts the most.

    Jan. 8: Bubble Bath Day

What's your favorite pepper to grow?

I used to love trying to grow a lot of different ones. Haven't grown many in several years now since something kept eating mine. I'm planning to try a few kinds this year. Faludi, Birds Eye and maybe a couple more.

Shoot I missed BINGO. Been way to busy lately and it this time of year. Should be slowing down some. Just took Elijah (Grandson) home. Went to Trinity's (Granddaughter) Birthday Party. Busy day tomorrow also.

Ruth maybe I can do National Take Down The Christmas Tree Day tomorrow afternoon, sure hope so. I will send you name/names who I will be sending seeds to. I like planting the green bell peppers.

NOTE to everyone.......................No one needs to send me a list of who your sending to.

That was to make sure everyone received something and I know after seeing all the wish lists that won't be an issue.

Shirley you can still send bingo words. Just choose 15 words other than the 2 I've posted.

Yeah, I missed taking down my tree also. I did eat beans that day.

Well, I forgot to mention the following....

Jan 6, National Christmas Tree Take Down Day....I took down one of my trees this past Friday, Jan 6.

Jan 6, National Bean Day....I enjoyed day 2 of Lentil, Black Bean and Vegetable Soup. After all the Prime Rib, Steak etc savored during the month of December, my body was in heaven eating healthy.

Jan 6, National Cuddle Up Day...LOL....well, all I can say is I cuddled someone damn good looking in my dreams. "HE" is the most beautiful man I have ever seen....circa 1980's and it was not my late husband....but my late honey knew about him. Heck, my husband thought he was great looking!! My late husband is at the great party in the sky probably cuddling some cute angel...OK with me. This is the first time in 35 years that I have not had a dog. No husband...no dog....no boyfriend (don't want one) to cuddle with. So I will simply let my dreams take care of this business.....hahaha!! Now that is all I have to say about that.......

Jan 7, National Old Rock Day.....all I can say about this is that I love rocks. I put large ones in my planters and small ones in my containers...rocks are art.

Jan 8, Bubble Bath Day....pass...I am not a bathtub bather!!

I am headed out of town with my sister and girlfriends tomorrow.....our January wine tasting trip to Paso Robles (Central CA). I will check back next week. Happy New Year to all.....be Happy....be Safe!!

    Good morning.

    • January 10: National Houseplant Appreciation Day

I would have appreciated it if one of my amaryllis blooms had been opened up today. It's almost open. It had the name Pink Blush on it. I can't find an amaryllis named Pink Blush and it looks like it's going to be white.

I got most of my Christmas decorations down yesterday and working on the rest today. I guess I added more than I realized. They aren't fitting in the containers they came out of.

Annie, have fun but be careful. I keep seeing all the flooding in that area.

    Shirley, got your bingo words.

January 11th, National Milk Day falls on January 11 to observe the very first time milk was delivered to homes inside sterilized glass bottles. This was in 1878.

North Texas was a sunny 85 degrees today. I would have liked to get some things planted but was finishing up with getting all the Christmas decorations packed away.

Wow 85 degrees yesterday, now that's warm. Was only 54 degrees here.

Tractor Supply clearanced their hyacinths and I wanted to try what I have seen on the internet.

    Looking good.

January 12th.......... Did you know that on this day in 1885, Dr Pepper sold it’s very first bottle in the USA? This makes it the oldest soft drink brand in America.

Looks like your hyacinths are doing great. I love the fragrance, but I've never tried growing them.

    Break time.

Yesterday was cold and windy, but today is a beautiful sunny 54 degrees.

I've been going thru my seed boxes and must have have tossed out about a million old seeds now. Not in the trash but on a small bank by the driveway. Surely I'll get a few blooms from that.

Also planted some sweet pea seeds, onions and daffodils.

Got up this morning and this beauty had fallen to the floor and broke. Got too top heavy in a lightweight pot, I think.

It was supposed to be Pink Flush. Clearly it's not. I wanted a white one, but wish I knew the name. It's similar to Picotee but only has a small amount of red on one or two of the petals.

This one is supposed to be Moon Scene. Doesn't really look like the pictures of Moon Scene.

The flowers are smaller than my other amaryllis.

I had a pretty amaryllis last year for the holidays. It spent the summer on my screened porch and is still out there. I guess soon I'll try to put it away some place dark and see if it regrows. I haven't even planted my daffodils bulbs yet. I get so behind with things! I hope I'm not the only one. I'm still working on taking down the Christmas things also.

Did You Know: According to folklore, the weather of the first 12 days of the year is said to be indicative of the following 12 months.

Jeanne, do you not plant your Amaryllis in ground?

I just got my decorations down a few days ago.

Hope your feeling better. How is the car hunt going?

I made a Buttermilk pie today. Can't wait to have a slice. Just waiting for it to cool.

I'm trying to organize all my seeds in 4 boxes. I seem to be missing some as I still haven't found my Faludi pepper seeds. I was hoping to get those started last week.

    • National Cheese Lovers Day

I will be using cheese in the dinner I'm making tonight.

I received a pretty strawberry card with

Gaillardia & red Gomphrena seeds today. Thank you Shirley.

Gaillardia grows wild all over this area, but we've tried and tried growing in our yard and it just doesn't live and reseed. I think it needs full sun. We've had two of our oak trees taken out so maybe now they will get enough sun.

    National Pie Day

Celebrated annually on January 23rd, National Pie Day is an unofficial holiday to celebrate that baked dish made out of pastry dough and filled with a tasty and usually sweet filling (although the filling can be savory, as well) – otherwise known as the pie. This day has been celebrated since the 1970s.

Probably no pie here today unless it's pizza pie for dinner. We'll see. Hubby and daughter did mention at Christmas that it's been a long time since we've had Shoe Fly pie.

Woke up this morning to 32 degrees and very heavy frost. Rain and maybe a little snow in tomorrow's forecast.

I'm sending out seeds to a few people today. Thanks for those I've received. The sun is out which is so nice since it rained just about all day yesterday, but it does need to do that now and then. I see some daffodil bulbs starting to sprout. Love daffodils and luckily the critters don't!

I am glad my seeds are arriving! Resending Shirley s as didn't add 39 cents because I wrote hand cancel on envelope! If any one else has to pay, plum and I will reimburse you!!

    BEER CAN APPRECIATION DAY

    1. Today I would like to compliment all you ladies on the great job you do in keeping our gardening group fun and entertaining, not to mention all the great seeds, plants and gifts.

    2. Peanut butter is a staple in our house. We probably have at least 5 jars

    3. Beer, I've never liked it, but hubby and grandsons do. Hubby drinks non-alcoholic now.

Today is rain all day. Much needed here.

I just opened yesterdays mail. Melinda, thank you so very much for your generous seed selection. Perfect in every way!!

For many weeks our mail has arrived very late (almost dark). Of course I went out earlier than that to send the mail yesterday - well, it was before noon - and that day's mail was already there so what I'm sending will actually go out today. An update on another card received: a lovely card with a horse design from Annie and some much appreciated coleus seeds. Thanks, Annie!

Received awesome seeds from: Annie, Nicole and Ruth. I'm going to get me another alphabetizer file so I can organize my wonderful seeds. My Nieces daughter is getting married in June and I promised her lots of cut flowers.

Today I received some marigold seeds from Melinda. Seems I planted lots of them last year and had no success after they sprouted so these are really appreciated. I also love the note card with the 3 little kittens! Thank you. Everyone was so kind.

Another Frosty morning here. Got down to 31 degrees.

I planted some pepper seeds this morning. Seven different kinds. Seeds are old so germination is iffy.

I have some new seeds that I hope to get winter sown outside soon.

    Agastache 'Globetrotter'

    Scutellaria 'Smoky Hills'

    Mexican Feather Grass

    Echinacea 'Ruby Star'

Jeanne, thank you for the cleome seeds. I tried to grow some last year. Ended up with one plant of Rose Queen. I would have had plenty of seed from that plant except the frost got the plant before the seeds were dry.

So far I have one tiny tomato plant up. And I did notice some daffodils coming up. That's a start on spring.
