I am not sure I'd call it a cottage garden...it looks more like a formal garden, which is fine. My idea of a cottage garden is that it's more of a mishmash and kind of wild. But you could still have that depending on how you plant it.

Is your garden in full sun? It looks like your arbors are all in warm colors but I don't know what SBH stands for. I guess you can consider other people's color preferences but why not trust your own? I think blues , whites, and purples complement warm colors..I also like a bit of bronze like bronze fennel and a dash of red or strong orange.

I grow The Pilgrim and find it wants to be very shrubby and large. About 8x8'. But you might be able to train it. Even an own root one tends to be that large and shrubby. There might be some better yellows with many petals that you could learn about on the rose forums. My The Pilgrim plant gets a fair amount of blackspot in zone 7a, NC. I like the climber , Clarence House, for a pale yellow to white. It's very healthy and vigorous, but not as stout and shrubby as The Pilgrim. It would help to know your zone. If warm enough, you can add some teas and noisettes to your choices. Crepuscule is a great warm colored noisette with good health. I like a mixture of rose shapes and sizes...not all Austins, though I love some of the Austins. Tottering by Gently is an Austin in yellowish with a small bloom, which could be a nice contrast. I don't have experience with it. Colette is a great apricot climber with good health, great fragrance, nice growth habit...puts out lots of side shoots, and good vigor and repeat.

I would have fun with your garden, see what plants appeal to you in local nurseries this spring, and learn about their habits. How nice that you will be able to see your garden from your bedroom! It is also nice you have some fruit trees. I'd plant blueberries if I had more room, and have more of a vegetable patch and some other fruits.

I think your warm colored Austins all sound like they'd be pretty together....with some in strong colors like Lady of Shalott ( is that the one you meant?), along with pale Jude and the Pilgrim.

Get the hardscaping work done. See what it looks like. And then decide what plants to put in. I'm a big rose fan and think it will end up looking great.
