Mmmmmm... not sure. What is on the other side of them?

The reason I ask is, I spent a lot of money insulating interior walls, and doing other things to keep heat and sound from migrating to other rooms, but I neglected to get solid core doors. I was disappointed at the amount of sound that passed through. Heat was not really an issue, but sound sure was.

If you have say a bedroom, a closet and then a bathroom on the other wall, a solid core door would make a noticeable difference in sound transmission. That was one situation where I wish I had a solid core door, but you can kind of see what I am saying I hope, and then apply it to your closets and see if sound transmission would be worth the extra cost or not?

Hope that helps!

Thank you for replying back. That does make a lot of sense. Some doors (sliding closet) won’t make a difference in sound/heat yet they’ll be sturdier and of course heavier. That’s where it’s tough to decide.

In our recent remodel, we swapped all our hollow core to solid, and I love it. Even for closets. You can feel the better quality when you're using the door. It also helped a lot with sounds throughout the house. It's one of those details that you probably won't mess with again. I'm guessing that you wouldn't regret doing all solid core, but you might regret doing some hollow.

That’s true! Our house is completely gutted and this is it. Solid core it is!
