1. The one on the right looks healthier IMO. I have two areas with artificial turf. Been down for years and I would never go back to grass. In limited areas, it just makes things easier and always looks good. Of course the trick is to edge it with bedding plants so that it looks as real as possible.,

If they have the same functionality, then i agree with Beverly that the one on the right looks a bit healthier

What are the install instructions? Are both stating they are equally suitable for where you want to place it? Or is one more suitable? The two samples both look like grass, but what the brown samples look like might impact your decision.

They both have brown blades in the mix, one is definitely "greener".

If you want it as your yard, why brown, and not green like real grass? In my imagination I'm seeing dead grass.

Both of these samples have the brown in them. The other ones offered are all green. We don't want it to look so stark like a golf course. Nashville people have green with brown grass. So we wanted our turf to somewhat match

That is exactly as I meant. At NO point did I think you wanted dead grass for which you paid money.

As to the backing? Read the link up above, and consult with a pro landscaping source - unaffiliated with a big box retailer. Get the backing suited to climate and longevity

I actually also chose an artificial turf for my decks that has the odd brown blade so it looks more real . I think you need to find out what the backing should be where you are putting it . felt sounds wrong to me but I chose a heavy type grass with a very heavy backing in vinyl with drain holes every 5 inches since it went on a deck
