Bonnie tomato plants this year??

Hi all. I've grown Bonnie tomato plants (mostly rutgers and romas) and they've always done fine. But this year, I don't understand what the heck they're doing. Maybe it's the weather, but these things are just growing weird......especially the Romas. Romas are usually very thick and healthy. I planted them a bit sideways in the soil to get more roots underground (raised stock tanks). But they are so weird. They have tall side shoots that are misshapen and the higher they get, the branch gets thicker than the bottom base and with not many leaves. Not sure what's going on. Anyone else growing Bonnie tomatoes having weird things showing up? Thanks!
