How a Soapstone Sink is Made

Soapstone counters are often discussed here. The "This Old House" show recently showed the process for fabricating a water-tight custom kitchen sink out of soapstone from start to finish and installation. It is Season 44, Episode 25 entitled "Look-Alike". The soapstone sink and counters were installed in a 1720 home. I will provide a link below.

The fabricator is Stone Surfaces, Inc. in Woburn, MA.

Thank you! Loved watching the sink fabrication and the reveal at the end, also seeing them install the up lighting was cool. That ceiling is gorgeous!!

Nice, but I gasped when they used a white caulk instead of clear to set that sink.

Thanks for the link! The entire video was interesting, and educational.

We investigated having Teixeira make us a soapstone sink, but we were more interested in a carved sink, rather than one that’s pieced together. However, carved sinks were at the time, 3 or 4 times the price of pieced. Beyond our budget.
