Congratulations on your new home! 🎉🎊🍾 Pick paint colors last. You can use different colors in adjoining spaces, but if it is one continuous wall in an “open” space, I would use the same color. Your living room is separate from your kitchen, so you can use different colors. Need to see your furniture, art, etc before choosing carpet (or other flooring) color, with wall color chosen last. What are your projects, budget for each project, and what is the order of importance?

I also would not choose a satin paint for the walls. Eggshell would be better. Satin or semi gloss for the trim, if you are painting it. Make sure before you start painting, you know what kind of paint is on the walls, and the trim. The safest thing is to put a coat of a good quality primer on the walls and trim first, after washing and sanding lightly, just in case, any of that paint is oil based.

create a vision board for each room with your fuurnishings and decide how much light or dark the room can handle. I would not whitewash the fireplace, YET.

wait until you finish everything else... you may like it as is. just remove the brass surround.

I have to agree, leave the fireplace the way it is. No white wash.

I think gray is a bit over done and might not look too good with the carpet.

White. Oops you want warm so a bright off-white.. LRV around 70- 80? I see same off-white for walls, ceiling and trim..all the same white. Leave only wood window trim for the windows next to the fireplace. Flat for walls and ceiling, semi-gloss for trim.

Are you planning to paint the wood trim or keep it as is? Also, what color will your new carpet be? Those factors will also affect any paint recommendations.

If the rooms are open to each other, then I would keep them the same color. You could always change things up in a separate room like the bathrooms or bedrooms. I would not use a satin finish on walls, it will be too shiny and show every imperfection. Eggshell is usually best for walls. If you're still deciding on finishes and want to keep things warm but bright, I would suggest a warm white color. Based off your countertops, cabinets, flooring and fireplace I was able to come up with some options. I would grab the following paint chips from Sherwin Williams, then once you narrow it down further you can grab some sampilize sheets. Take a look at each of these next to your current fixed elements and whatever carpet you are purchasing.

Because your livingroom is a seperate space, you can definately use a different color in there if you’d like. Once you narrow the options down it’ll be easy to suggest which colors work together.

These six colors are all low chroma, they may end up being too gray for your fixed elements but you won’t know until you see them in person.

The next 5 colors are a little less gray and they may end up being better suited for your space. Again, won’t know until you try.
