The mirror is too small for that cabinet. I'd go with a wider mirror or get a large horizontally oriented piece of artwork for that instead. You can also add a few more accessories to the top of the cabinet. Here are some inspiration pix:

It looks pretty, especially when you step back so we can see the rug and door. Love the chunky vase and yellow-green foliage. The arrangement could have something else added but less is usually better than too much.

About the mirror, your sideboard could handle a larger mirror, but you already have this one. Is the mirror square or could you try it sideways%?

I agree with Sabrina’s comments. Just wanted to say I’ve admired that narrow cabinet from Ballard for a long time.☺️

Try adding in some accessories with color. There’s a LOT of black right now. Greenery would be nice.

I think it's basically lovely. I would go with a pair of vases and more greenery on the console, and I'd especially be tempted to a pair of tall and tasteful mirrored urns or vases for extra drama and sparkle, but the textured planter you have is also a really nice feeling. But will all the black, I think the greenery (rather than lamps or art) is just very welcoming and unpretentious.

IMO the mirror is very nice but sized too small

I'd add sconces to the sides for more interest. They don't have to be electrical. Candle wall sconces are fine. You can use flameless candles that are remote-controlled and get a very nice appearance.

The rug really dates the entry. I'd look for something in the rug that was a bit more edgy.

It’s a pretty entryway. If you’re looking for ideas, the black seems to take over to me, the rug looks too small, and the plant is blocking the mirror. I like both the side lights and the larger mirror or art idea. I think adding color would help a lot. Maybe a bright color on the walls, or on the rug, or both. I also would want a seat for function, so a bench with a colored top would be there for me. I think adding asian metal handles to the dresser would help a lot.

Agree with the decor suggestions, and Beverly’s call on the rug. It doesn’t “go with” the feel of the other items.

Something more modern, with a touch of color, might enhance the whole look.

@kims9598 I think you've done really well. I think this is livable. I would move the vase to the left side though, out of the way of the mirror. When the rug needs replacing, choose a bigger one. But I like the black in the current one. I like the wall-sconce idea better than the larger-mirror idea to fill the space above the console. But that's just because I like layers of light and options... dimmers always.

@TB I found some for my kitchen on Amazon for less than $50. Yeah, they aren't what you want in your living room, but I love them in my kitchen.

Either wall sconces like Bev posted, or tall console/buffet lamps to balance out the mirror.

Not loving the plant in front of the mirror--I'd find another home for that.

I'm assuming you use the door on the right to enter and exit the house. It looks like the one on the left would hit the console when opening it.

Just a thought…. Your cabinet is asymmetrical, with two doors on the left and one on the right. I would shove the cabinet a foot or so to the right so that your mirror is over the left side of the cabinet (over the two door section) and place your vase on the right side of the cabinet. I would also use taller branches or flowers or something a bit more colorful, too, (with green?) in the vase. Embrace the asymmetry of your cabinet’s front by playing into it. Just a thought…

Console needs layering and mirror could be lowered or turned horizontally. There are all kinds of inspiration pictures on Pinterest and search foyer black console.

Also suggest a lighter/larger rug.

Turn the mirror sideways so that the length is similar to the dresser.

Absolutely do not turn the mirror

Wood or rattan accessories would be a nice contrast to the black and warm things up.
