Well, such service people are called ''árchitects'''. A landscape architect might also be able to give you a design you prefer. Having just seen your house for the first time, I think your upper balcony is quite appealing, although I would change the spindles to simple uncarved wood and if those are not sliding or French doors I would make them that -- but only if the portico roof can safely support the weight of people actually using it as a sitting area. I would spend money to reinforce it for that if needed.

It is a faux porch on top. It’s only windows at the top of my foyer that access that porch area so there’s no way to make it usable space. Interesting idea to make it straight balusters. Thanks for taking time to give me your thoughts.

I am not sure how modern you can go but removing the shutters would bea first step. The railing for that portico can be a much simpler black metal and glass and the posts also simple black metal. That would for sure modernize the look and then a new front door in a modern style not MCM just modernso really that whole portico black no arch above the front door either then the house will have a more modern look. Then landscaping that is where you will get huge bang for your buck.I would think along these lines for that .

It’s a traditional house so the idea of the balustrade is appealing, but yours is badly proportioned and looks heavy. For one, the upper posts appear larger than the porch posts below, they are typically the same size or smaller. The rails and spindles are too large as well. A nice chippendale rail would be very sophisticated. If you don’t have access to that area just remove it. You need a local architect trained in traditional design to fix this.

Consider removing that upper railing altogether. A much shorter embellishment idea for that area, maybe a designer can suggest.
