It does not hurt to have extra ground wires. If its a ground wire, connect it to ground!

@Charlene Williams, there is no photo on either of your posts thus far in this discussion. You'd see it when viewing the thread if so.

I found a similar picture and question on Reddit and the response was to cut it and cap it with a nut. We had just attached the extra ground wire to the green screw. But the dishwasher still isn’t working. We’ll try cutting it and hope it makes a difference but doesn’t sound like that’s the issue.

The ground wont make a difference whether it runs ot not. This is AC power, not DC.

.jpg and .png should work, at a minimum. Are you using "Photo" to insert it? A link internal to your PC won't work.

There's apparently a Houzz glitch of some ilk, or you added the photo via some method other than the Photo function on the reply composition. I see the photo when viewing the Appliances forum topic list via my phone (in Firefox on the phone (I do not use the Houzz app). The photo does not appear within the thread on the phone. The photo does not appear at all on my computer (also Firefox).

This is a screen capture of the photo in the topic list on my phone, expanded which makes it lower quality. Is the extra ground wire the one with a ring terminal or is it the wire you're holding at the left?

Ah! I was wondering if there was a neutral misidentification. In any case, bonding is next to godliness, so all the greenies should be bonded to the chassis metal.

Again, if it's a ground wire, ground it! It doesn't matter if it's an extra ground wire, code says green wires are ground wires. The manufacturer wouldn't use a green wire for any other use. Ground it!
