A nice round coffee table large enough that all the people on the chairs can reach but not so big that they can't get to the chairs. Could you add another chair?

While four chairs around a round coffee table is pretty popular, it always feels to me like a set up for a family intervention or like a hard conversation is about to be had with a teenager. Without seeing the right wall it is hard to know what will fit.

Start your rug two feet out from the fireplace and pull your chairs out from the corners too. I larger rug would fit the room better and add to the cozy factor. Put nice table between the two chairs on the right and have it big enough to set drinks. Add an ottoman for the chair on the left. Nice reading lamp for the chair with the ottoman.

A patterned rug could add some texture. Turn it the other way.

Here's some ideas;

Get a simple tripod floor lamp for the left corner next to the fireplace.

Take the matching chair from the right side of the fireplaace and put it on the other side of the metal table. Put flokati or other faux fur pillows on teh chairs

Remove the gray chair entirely and put a sofa on that wall and a tree under the window on the right side of the fireplace. Instead of a coffee table, give the sofa sitters drinks tables

maybe a life-sized ceramic dog to sit by the fireplace ;)

It’s a nice room, love the chairs. How about bookshelves under the windows either side of the fireplace. You could have books, plants, lamps to add interest to the space. I would have a sofa on the wall where the two chairs are placed and have the chairs facing it with a skinny rectangular coffee table in the center. And a textured rug underneath it all.

I would work with what you have and make little tweaks and additions. This room has a great warm, bright cozy factor. It also has cohesion. I would’t deviate into a dark cozy look with burgundy and dark rugs. Those are easy to create, but what you have achieved so far is a bit more special and really utilizes the gorgeous natural light in your home.

Can you take a picture from further back, so as to see the right side of room better and also to be able to judge if the entire placement can be moved away from the fireplace a bit, as it all feels squeezed in. Suggest taking advantage of that extra space - before deciding on a coffee table’s style/size (suggest a nesting style, which will feel airy).

Wondering if set up below using your chairs would work with 2 facing the fireplace (slanted or straight). Where chair is on right, add a floor lamp as low lighting will add more warmth.

If possible, add a console under window for height variation/added interest.

@Maureen I LOVE all those choices with that fireplace surround! The sleek but soft white chairs... The contrasting dark, metal and functional tables are the perfect foil with the white fabric to bring out the full color range in the fireplace. And the soft olive/sage green is just the right of nature to warm it up. You NAILED it! Can you throw in a white fur rug? Too much? Sigh!

I would not go with patterned rug that repeats FP surround. :-)))
