Am I the only one who thinks wood-look vinyl on the floor is too much of a good thing?

I would NOT stain anything cross beams in a contrasting color. It will onlyh lower the appearance of the ceiling which is oppressively low right now.

I tried to find some vinyl that was close in color to your selection. Here is how it might appear in the room. IMO the real wood on the ceiling makes your vinyl selection look 'not real' in appearance.

All of that gets stained and finished before it is installed. You do not change the color after it is installed, unless you want to paint it.

I know I am supposed to try to be nice but that ceiling is oppressive to the max so for sure no stain paint it white and pray it looks less like a lid.. I have LVP wood look in my walkout I like it all right it is 16 yrs old so almost ready for me to change my mind.

Other options.

The slate-look vinyl is MUCH better in your space. The wood-look vinyl is not good with all the genuine wood on the ceiling.

I'd paint the ceiling between the beams in white or off-white, and leave the others as is, or treat them with a sealer as dan1888 suggested.

Should I do tile for the upstsairs then?

Maybe a light gray color?

I actually spent money to sand blast the old white paint off....

Tile with install is not low cost when compared with engineered hardwood.

You can "try out" flooring on some of the websites like I posted above. Take your time. I would not do more wood.

You can spray the ceiling with Bona mega one or Aqua choice natural white. it will give it a pale color. will still be warm but, pale.

Slate look is what would look nice. Something like Daltile's Slate Attache Meta Dark Gray. IT is a warm dark gray, with taupes and charcoals in it.

Oh dear, so sorry we're telling you to paint the wood when you just sandblasted the paint off!

But I still think the slate-look tile would be a better choice for the floor.

An emphatic "no" to gray wood-look LVP. It was a terrible idea to begin with and now it's become ubitquitous and everyone is tired of it.
