Split finish door knobs

I have different door knobs on every door. Most people don't notice.

Satin nickel on closet doors ( these are dummies)

Satin nickel on Bedroom doors.

Baths, .........

Split the finish, using same style hardware on bath doors, if you like.

Caveat ......when and if an ensuite bath door is left open into that bath? You will STILL see satin nickel with your pairing: )

It is only when that bath door is closed, that you will have matched finish within the bath - no matter, matte black, gold, or any other.

( note: If you are referring to polished nickel? Do not mix it with anything, other than possibly your gold and certainly not matte black.. It's not a good mixer in general. Sorry: )

In other words as to match ? Don't wring a hand.

For the cost of the project, you may not end up having doors or door knobs. You are building a whole second house on top of the existing. Which costs as much as a second house.

Personally I don't like that split system. Looks weird. I'd go for all the same metal throughout.

Had a maids room in a 1928 era house. the original owners did split finish (nice on side where owners would see, utilitari utilitarian on maid’s side)

Thank you all for your input, i believe i will carry the nickle upstairs, but not in my pocket lol. and yes, the oroject is expensive but nothing in Key West is cheap!

This is not always the case. Our first home was a 3BR/2BA 1956 ranch on a large corner lot. We had three children, and looked for another house. Since we had stairs to the attic (which you had to stay bent over to walk around in), we added a partial second story. It was way less than moving - building or buying. Home became a 4BR/3.5BA.

I also dislike split finishes. In our last home (huge remodel), we left the door hardware (satin finish nickel Baldwin levers and hinges) and used unlacquered brass in most of the bathrooms and kitchen. Usually, and previously in a custom build, everything was the same. I thought mixed finishes might bother me, but I never gave them a second thought.

I would use nickel on all doors and hinges, then change up the hardware finishes inside the bathrooms (faucets, showers, towel rods, hooks, etc.)

I dislike split finishes, especially on doors that are usually open. This includes paint, the exception being exterior doors that remain closed most of the time. Open doors in the Florida Keys are important for air flow and humidity management.

This will be the view from the upper level, we will have a balcony off of the primary bedroom overlooking the pool.
