WHAT????? the ceiling is going to be a huge expense for what purpose if you can't do real wood floors . I need to see the plans I guess but this sounds backwards to me . The actual design sense is also not really making sense either .If you want maple why not the floors and the cabinets instead . I need a lot mor einfo as to the logic of this plan.

We have maple tongue and groove for the ceiling made from the trees we cut down on our lot. Kitchen, dining room, living room is all open with that for the ceiling. Not enough to do the whole house flooring or right quality for what we want on the floor. It is not much of an expense because we have the wood and had it converted cheep. Thanks!

I have it but luxury does not come to mind we got because we have 3 huge dogs who run in and out of a doggie door all day into the walk out. Great advertising I guess.

Wow! Prioritizing a wood ceiling over a wood floor is hard to believe. "Luxury vinyl" is a marketing term not the reality of something that lacks the warmth and feel underfoot of real wood. Or maybe you have big dogs as Patricia Colwell does. Couldn't you temporarily cover some floors--bedrooms, or side rooms, with rugs until you can do all floors in wood? Floors are a fourth wall to showcase furnishings, rugs. We look down more than we look up when we're in a room.

If this is vaulted, the square footage will be MORE than the floor square footage. If it's flat it will be the same amount of square footage. If you don't have enough for floors, you won't have enough for ceilings either. Plastic floors is a big design mistake for this.

With wood ceilings and wood looking floors white on the trim and doors sounds like a good idea.

You can have maple ceilings and maple floors, or oak floors, or whatever wood floors you want. I would not install plastic floors unless in a basement.

Those “luxury” vinyl floors are not free- you’ll be throwing money away on something that will never feel quite right in a space with so much real wood.

Keep in mind that natural maple changes color over time, so if the ceilings are changing and the floor isn't, will that bother you?

How are you finishing the maple? Is it kiln dried? I would definitely use a wood floor and not any sort of fake wood.

As mentioned, maple yellows over time and your lvp won't. That suggests you should paint the trim and doors to avoid two colors of 'wood' where the trim/doors and floor meet. The ceiling is farther away.

So the maple yellows/changes over time. All wood does, it's a natural material. The same wood from the same tree can be a different color, that's part of its beauty. It's not a reason to avoid wood.

I’ll pile on. Real wood belongs on floors. If you have lots of money, put it on the ceiling in addition to your floors.

Everybody will notice your floors. Every day, all the time. Don’t waste your real wood on the ceiling and put VINYL on the floors, for pete’s sake.

It is pretty easy to cross into overkill with wood tones. So, am gonna suggest white trim unless you home really is a cabin and you want a very "woodsy" feel.

You don't have to use white. There are many pale colors and many different whites to choose from.

I've used black and dark green trim both in woodsy projects. Both look great! But the floor needs to be real wood, and preferably your maple. You can always do tile in select areas to stretch it. Like powder room, pantry, at doorways as walkoff areas, etc.
