I have the same type of fireplace and have always found it difficult to do anything with. I finally settled on larger size vases - sometimes i remove the bowl and place a print on an easel when i want some color

Is the space on top of FP a right triangle - one angle measuring 90 degrees - or a scalene triangle - all 3 sides of it are different lengths? Can’t tell if wall sides of it are = or not. Camera perspective off. It looks like length on TV wall shorter than length on french door wall. Answer to that will help figure out what to put up there but my thought is large piece of art on an easel so it can be angled into room. The depth / space will determine what if anything else should be up there with it. Prior comment with picture shows a nice idea that would work but I’d likely use both if that’s a deep corner. Have to ask (not say) something about TV - is it being moved away from FP as well as lower? And connecting cord disappearing? You might not want anything on top of media console if TV being fixed. Color for coffee table? Warm wood tone to blend - not match - media console. See how nice your poodle’s color looks on rug. 😊

Thanks - looks like an Isosceles triangle - 2 sides the same length. Also looks quite deep. I’d be creative with this space & layer items on it. It doesn’t need to be filled up but does need more than one lonely item there. Create a related arrangement of items. Art doesn’t need to be images on a canvas - it can be sculptural & in many different mediums. I also wouldn’t buy things to simply fill the space but would take time to find items that appeal & will give you pleasure looking at them over a long period of time. Things from an art fair or purchased on a memorable vacation - like that. Do an image search on styling deep corner shelves to get some ideas & keep your eyes open when wandering places that sell art of all kinds. Stick the measurements of that space in your wallet & put a picture of it on your phone!

It will be great for Christmas and a large creche!!

You won’t want to put anything on the TV console. when you lower it it should be about 3 inches above the console table and you won‘t want to block your view.

Keep the angles in the wall up to the ceiling and remove the mantel. Put some artwork about and cover the black firebox with a nice Custom Fireplace Screen.

Definitely want to do something similar in the future @fireplace treatments… but for now working with it

If you ever do what @Fireplace Treatments suggests, it might be a great place for a wall mounted hidden safe with all the dead space behind the ’false’ wall.

I think you need something with height. Usually I’d say a mirror but I’m afraid the tv would reflect in it . I always notice that rooms in media always have greenery. A live medium tall plant would look nice where the cute dog’s bowl is, then perhaps mount a clock, macrame wall hanging,or colorful abstract art over the fireplace , and add a couple smaller plants underneath with some framed photos of your dog.
