redo porch ceiling

I’m redoing our back porch, the ceiling is now sheets of board and has this gray metal strip between each sheet. Instead of staining it like I’m going to do with the rest of the porch. What is a cost effective way to cover it and put new ceiling in? Or would you just stain it?
