Pretty sconce totally useless light the 2nd is better placement but IMO not worth install for that Edison bulb tyoe yellow light . I aslo think preety light looking for such a alrge exapnse of wall and aheavy looking FP IMO a fab piece of art above the FP and no sconce at all. The art custom to fit that indent perfectly.

In many cases, Patricia, sconces are used for accent lighting, not primary.

Definitely #2, with the bulb halfway between the top and bottom of the panel.

I also agree with #2. You look to have a nice fairly traditional type room, and sconces are very appropriate. The yellow Edison bulbs are a great choice in a traditional room and add a nice warm glow, despite what others think. Not everyone likes a cold, sterile, modern look.
