Ah, the mysteries in an older home! No idea what that could be for, and a part of me hopes the mystery is never resolved! Just the same, I hope you’ll share what you find, whether a treasure chest full of gems or just cobwebs.

Does the knob turn?

Cute tiles.

Yes! The door was able to open a couple of inches in but then hit insulation. I'm actually really sad they pulled it out yesterday (with the intent to drywall over the hole). I'm going to ask them to try to see what is in there behind the insulation before they fully close it up!  

The tiles are really cool too.

A small dumbwaiter, perhaps?

Laundry chute?

Maybe it’s where the brownies live? You know, like from scouting: they clean your kitchen in the night!

There's a laundry shoot in the bathroom on the other side of the stairs, so I don't think it was that! I also thought dumbwaiter, but we can't see any old hardware (doesn't mean it's not there 🤷🏼‍♀️).

I WISH there were signs of Brownies in this house - it could use an overnight cleaning 🤣
