master bath help!

last modified: 11 months ago

We are re-doing our master bath (11.7x10.7). We will be gutting the entire bathroom, but leaving the layout as is as to not move plumbing. We will be expanding the shower, and do a free standing tub (not a built tub like the one currently there).

1. Do you have a store or website you love to order from for good quality vanities?

2. What storage ideas do you have? (built in nooks in shower for shampoo, etc… recessed medicine cabinets) what else?!

3. Any great storage ideas for towels, makeup hair products and tools? I am consideri buying a tall linen storage chest, but wondering what other ideas anyone may have.

I love Godmorgon vanities from Ikea I usually do not order the counter and sink from them and do my own choice of those The storage iserts are awesome and all drawers is perfect .If you post a to scale floor plan on graph paper showing the windows , doorways where those lead and every measurment clearly marked posted here in Jepg format in a comment you will get more help than woth a realtors type photo of the space . Tell us if you are planning a complete gut or just vanities for instance . Please do not do another post on this subject . You have already done a duplicate post on another issue . I see a wedding pic is this house a new to you home? If so I stronly suggest you stop now and see how the house works for how you live before doing much of anything major.

Make space for a nice sized linen closet.

What are the measurements for the new design? Do you have a drawing showing measurements for the freestanding tub area (you will want to have a freestanding tub that has enough room on the sides and back to allow for easy cleaning - if you get a back-to-wall freestanding tub, you can place it against the back wall instead of leaving space behind it - I have one of those). How large will your new shower be?

Where will your new linen cabinet be located?

If you did a partial wall on the side of the shower next to the freestanding tub, you could put your shower niche inside that wall to ”hide” it (niches don’t tend to look as nice in reality as they do in Instagram photos - they typically are a bit messy). Also, you could add some floating wooden shelves on the tub side of the wall where you could store a few towels/candles/bath products to be used for the tub.

Also, if it’s planned correctly, you could place your mixing valve (control for shower) on the partial wall - you would be able to turn the water on and adjust the temperature prior to stepping into the shower. It’s nice to be able to do that before stepping into the shower so you aren’t hit with cold water.

Personally, I would actually not want the bench - unless you will actually use it to sit at times.
