What is the proper way to install knobs like these, with the exposed stems. Does there need to be some kind of sealant between the escutcheon and the metal piece that screws on to cover it (what is the name of that piece?). Missing in this photo is the H or C piece that attached to the front of the knob. Does that need sealant?
