I welcome any kind suggestions.

    Well, it looks very sterile.

What does "elevate" mean to you?

  • last year

all you need is a smallish but strong dose of color. the aesthetic is a modern pared down look. you need seating so thats a good spot for your personal wish.

What did you do when you posted that blank slate several years ago? What worked or did not; what do you have there now & want to change?

You can change the countertop, add a more colorful backsplash and/or change the handles. Seating gives you a lot of options to add warmth, texture and color.

Is this your kitchen? Did you design it- or inherit it by buying the house?

I'm not sure what elevate means. It is actually the floor that I find most problematic. If you are not changing the floor then I would change the counters.

New counter stools and lighting above the island would help too.

    Art on the walls

Is this real or a computer image? What can be changed?

You never responded to any of the suggestions, the last time you asked about this kitchen. https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5563445/repost-better-photo-kitchen-too-white-too-gray-too-boring

Not sure if this is a real image, AI generated or what. What you do depends on exactly what you want. Elevated is a vague term. Do you want to add color, pattern, etc. The kitchen is pretty much a blank slate. So, gather yourself some inspiration photos, pick what you like and what coordinates well and go from there.

I happen to really love the kitchen as is. I hate the picture with the orange chairs! They are like a strain on my eyes. I would add some flowers, and a fun color mixmaster or coffee pot or tea kettle (or whatever you actually use) and some art on the wall, and be very happy. But just goes to show that everyone has their own taste.

I think this is not a real space and this person is playing games

Hi all , well some of you are correct. That picture is now 6 years old. It is a custom designed kitchen that has worked very nicely. Of course 6 yrs later I would probably do something different - all in all it is a lovely kitchen. The counters were a bit of a disappointment bc they are dull - I might like changing them along w the backsplash - I was looking for something ideas to elevate the space - it just seems boring - just kitchen only- we have everything other room taken take of - thanks in advance - kind comments only-

The person who said it looks "sterile" was right -- it's a bright, almost shiny white. You need to add color, texture and personality. Specific thoughts:

    - Literally everything's white. If possible, I'd say change the floor OR the countertops to something other than white -- but that's real money.

    - Lack of pendant lighting over the island is a problem.

    - I'd start with bar stools -- in a color.

    Bluntly......

""For crying out loud. Post a real picture of this kitchen, and whatever ( "already taken care of ") spaces that surround this kitchen. The room doesn't live in isolation and your picture is NOT a picture. Take it in real daylight. Take it in evening light. What counter stools are at that island and don't ask us to believe you have been without stools for six years. You don't have so much as a coffee maker on the counter? Does anyone really live here? I ask,,,,,,because it appears nobody does.: )

6 years ago everyone suggested that you add colour. You didn't, so is that something that you won't do?

You say the counters and backsplash are dull. Do you mean dull as in uninteresting, or dull as in not shiny? Is that the only thing you are wanting to change?
