I have Grey Owl and it is a great color. During the day it has more of a blue tint and at night now, it is more of a grey at my home.

That is definitely a beautiful fabric! Instead of blue, would you consider a pale yellow, the color of the flowers?

You could also choose a pale apricot color to bring out the flower color in your lovely duvet. If you want a grey, I also like the grey owl. My philosophy in life, is not to save things, but: use and enjoy them! Life is short. Surround and use all the beautiful things you have!

I would pick light shade of coral, from the fabric, if you are going to use it. It is a beautiful fabric.

Pretty bedding we put a very old light wight blanket on our bed for the dog to sleep on so he does not damage the bedding . I thing the bedding needs to go to the paint store for a color match and I love the background color for wall color . that allows you to do some accents in the colors of the flowers. I even like drapes to match the walls in bedrooms for a really peaceful feel. I however never worry much about natural light ina space I usually only use at night .

I have used a lot of blue green shades in my home, my previous home and in homes of friends and family where I helped pick colors.

Looking at the small samples people often pick a color that is brighter, more vibrant than they should, not realizing how much color there really is once you paint hundreds of square feet of wall.

Raindance is brighter, more colorful than I would recommend for most homes.

I used Beach Glass in my spare room, but it was a bit too blue. I wanted something very similar to Quiet Moments (used in another room) but slightly darker. I tested Raindance and Silvermist and Oyster Bay. Silvermist was the winner - Oyster Bay was too green and Raindance was too bold.

It is impossible to know which color will look best next to your bedding without seeing the bedding in real life - colors always look a bit different on a computer screen.

The LCH values below are Light, Chroma and Hue

Healing Aloe, Quiet Moments, Sea Salt and Comfort Gray are incredibly popular colors because they work well, not too gray or too colorful, not to light and not too dark.

I generally start all searches for blue greens with those 4 colors. 90% of the time someone will pick one of the 4 as their perfect color. The other 10% will want something darker than one of the two.

In your case I would most likely go with something a bit lighter than the bedding, but in the same color family.

I have also found that looking at colors under natural daylight really helps identify differences in undertones that impact the final outcome of our color selections. Take your duvet cover and the samples outside on a clear day and look at them in natural daylight.

These tiles looked very similar inside a home, but taking them outside revealed the pink undertones of the kitchen tile.

I would take the fabric and whatever color you choose from and get it color matched. There are so many grays, corals, pinks etc out there. You will have to sample sonmany to find one that doesn't clash.

I'd go with a pale peachy/blush color to pick up the flowers in the quilt. Then the bedding will have a nice contrast to the walls.

I like to have a color that works with my bedding, but I am not married to having the exact same color. I often change art and bedding seasonally or when the mood hits. Far more often than I change paint color, so my walls need to be a color that is flexible and works with the whole home color palette.

When I chose Silvermist for my spare room it was based on looking from the hallway into the foyer and into the spare bedroom. Did the color from the purple/red/green slate flooring in the foyer relate to the wall color in the spare room. (you will see both rooms from the hallway).

Cell phones will auto correct color, so although it is the same room the color looks different on every picture.

It's so funny b/c eventually I'm painting my front door a red-orange (my fav color and I'm in a mid-century modern California Rance (Ralph Fournier) so all my neighbors have brightly colored doors. I love the color of the chairs in my dining room and had decided (after looking at thousands of chips ... I'll just color match. So got a sample from the retailer where I purchased the chairs. it's funny how when you are overwhelmed you miss some obvious answers.

These are all great ideas. I did make a trip to my Sherwin Williams store and ordered some larger samples of paint color to try out. I'm looking at different times of the day and WILL def go outside too.

I ordered 10 samples from Samplize and ended up picking Quiet Moments. I love Beach Glass too but am just afraid it will be a bit too dark. John finishes up with the floor tomorrow (baseboards) and Martin my painter comes Wednesday. NOW have to start thinking about a rug :). Thank you all for the advice. I appreciate it so much.

okay - first another 'before" the paint picture - bc my adorable dog Pete had to get in the picture.

It's still a work in progress. The color doesn't look exactly like I thought it would, but I like it alot and have NO doubt I will love it with time. Next on my list is new bedding (thinking I'll just do cream sheets but with some pillow cases that pull out one of the colors in the duvet cover. And a RUG. (The dogs are sliding all over this floor.) I welcome suggestions here. And then art. I have a 90 year old aunt (I love her!) who is an artist. I'm going to go take the duvet cover, my samplize of the wall color and the floor and have her create a couple of pieces (maybe florals?) .

What is different about the paint color vs. what you expected? It looks pretty in the photos!

It is a very pretty color and works great with the fabric.

Is that the only wall you can place the bed on? Are there any other windows? Where are the doors?

For the duvet, I would make sure to get an insert that's slightly larger than the cover so it looks nice and full. Then add a blanket in a complementary color, and fold the duvet in thirds and place it at the foot of the bed.

For the sheets, you might consider white sheets with an embroidered stripe in any of the colors in the fabric--blue/peach/yellow. You can get them from the high-end sheet manufacturers (Frette/Sferra/Matouk) or more reasonably priced from Pottery Barn, Cuddledown, Frontgate, The Company Store, or Lands End. Depending on how many pillows you like to sleep with, you could use 4 pillows or 2 pillows with shams, and a decorative pillow in one of the accent colors from the duvet.

Here's a sumptuous/luxurious look with a duvet and lots of pillows and a long bedskirt. Curtain panels match the duvet, but you could use long curtain panels in a solid, sheet or contrasting pattern, such as a check, miniprint, geometric, etc.

There aren't a lot of options for where to put the bed and I only have one small rectangular window on another wall top third of the wall. It's a small room (11x11 or so). In part, the bed is there b/c my dog Pete likes hang out on the bed and watch the world go by. (It's clear that the dogs rule my house.)

I will add that even in that small room, I had two dressers. I moved them into the guest room b/c I just love the room with lots of space!

And Diana - thank you for these photos. I had been looking at photos online and this is exactly the look I wanted. I LOVE in the first one how the pattern on the rug "works" with the print on the duvet. Hopefully I'll get lucky and find something with a similar look. First thing I have to do is find a rug b/c my poor dog Gracie can't get her footing to jump up in the bed. She does NOT like my new floor. I LOVE it!

Dani - I do love the color.I think I hesitated before I chose it b/c in some light it looked a little too green and when I first saw it on the walls I thought it looked too "baby" blu-ish. But it really doesn't and it is such a soothing color.

Diana, here's a sketch of my current room layout (not at all correct proportions) just to give you a sense of the room. I have bullt in shelves (top half of wall) and closet on one wall (opposite the bed).

Is the room wide enough to have the bed on the wall with the other window? I think I would like that better than the headboard in front of the window.

yes...I had the bed there for years before I moved it to where it is (mostly for the dogs ha). BUT I might think about moving it back there.

For the rug you might want to visit an independent floor covering store. You can have carpeting cut into any size you want, or just carpet the entire room, since it's rather small. Our vacation home has a couple of bedrooms in the 11'x11' size and we chose to forgo rugs, but I understand your dilemma with the pup.

Another idea is a jute or seagrass rug. Neutral enough to go with the duvet and wall color, they have nice texture, and they're really reasonably priced. I just bought a 8x10 braided jute rug with a latex backing for $300 on Amazon.

Consider synthetic rugs that mimic jute. They are dog proof!

Yes, ptreckel, I have synthetic seagrass on the stairs in my vacation home. Love it!
