how to fill living room

last month

We have our living room sectioned off and decided to make a sectional area on the wall we will hang the tv but don’t know what furniture to put on the other side. For reference the front door is by the big open area and the stairs are to the right. We plan on putting a table behind the couch

How about another side chair by the couch and a coffee table between the other chairs? Do they swivel? If not, then they can face each other with a coffee table or use a nice sized end table between them. TV and stand on the wall to the left of the fireplace and a tall shelf to the left or the patio doors. I'd pull the couch away from those patio doors more, centering it with the overall space more. It seems really close to those doors.

We need a detailed floor plan of the space. Note the dimensions of each window and door, etc.

Yes draw a floor plan with all meauremets. Also the furniture measurements. To start I would pulll the sectional off the rug so the front edge is about a foot onto the rug.

It's better separate the area by functionality.

As a general reaction, and without seeing the missing wall, I think the room might not be laid out correctly. If the room stays divided into two sections, the sectional is far too close to the TV wall to be comfortable. You can see that I have moved the sectional back significatly in the photo below.

However, it might be better to consider a plan more like this one below for your total room.

I have no idea how this space would be used for entertaining . The sectional makes no sense for guests all lined up and not comfotable with mostly no arm restas . You have ahuge room (not sure how huge ) but it needs to be working as one space . I have a 25 15 " LR it is set up with 2 seating areas but connected to each other so thta a big group ar e still in the same space and the pieces can be moved for different layouts . I do need a to scale floor plan of your space for sure . We do not have TV in uour LR but a huge FP that works sort of like a focal point .You can see by the pics the pieces and how they can be moved around to change seating bu t always connected for conversation . So I guess what I am saying is think about how you entertin and use the whole room.

Position the rug first, with the intent of placing the sectional into the middle of the room. Front legs of furniture on edge or rug. Chairs , side by side to make a good conversation area. Purchase an entertainment center for the wall where you want to t v to go.

Next, do something with the fireplace wall. It looks to be on an angle, so make it stand out. Peel and stick wallpaper, a mantel and mirror would be nice. You still will have some extra room left over.

How about a sofa table, with some stools? Fun for entertaining and everyone gets to watch the Super Bowl. Idea, only, not that furniture.
