Help needed with a corner in my den.

last month

I have a corner in the den that I put an artificial plant because nothing grows there. No light gets in that corner. It looks ok but I’m not sure if it’s ok to use this artificial plant?
My style is traditional.
If not do you have any suggestions on what to put there or any advice at all.

I would use a lighter green leaves fake plant

You have a lot of stuff in that corner. I would remove the “plant”.

I'd suggest you redesign it in 3d and play around with different options there.

    Very pretty.

Are there 3 artificial/dried plants in that one shot? I’m not sure I’d pay much attention to one, but seeing three I definitely would.

I think it looks nice there,

Nice height that bridges the two walls. I concur that a slightly lighter color leaf would be nice and I'd also think it is too much fake greenery too close together. I'd get rid of the small side table plant.

I really dislike fake plants and you have alot going on n thta corner and to me the plant looks like you had it so you just pluncked it in there for no reason. I would probably angled that cabinet in that corner and take the stuff off the wall and be done . Sometimes too much is just too much.

Can you find another location for the ornate tallish cabinet?
I see that you wish to avoid blocking the low wall vent.
The cabinet deserves to shine on its own...the hodge podge of items on top detracts from the splendor of this probably antique piece.
Consider rearranging that corner: bring the open legged table into the corner, put the decor pieces on it,rehang the art.
Adjust the seating so two of the chairs can use the table, bring the matching chairs closer to the wall.
If this sounds too fiddly or complicated, then first remove all the extra decor pieces and the plastic plants.
Then bring in the essential pieces bit by bit.
Why commit yourself to dusting a bunch of superfluous "decor"?
Have you considered using the space by the window as an area to nurture living plants?

@rosiembog Thank you for your suggestions. The antique piece is very special to us it has a story behind it.
The way that the den is configured there isn’t any other place to put that piece. The room has a fireplace and a TV area. There is also a a walk way by the side of that corner near the chairs.
We have tried to find a spot for it but this truly is the best location. It needs to stay in that room . There’s a very large picture window in the room and the main sofa sits in front of it. There’s an end table on each side. So the table you see needs to remain there. The two chairs you see are there because there’s a walkway right there so they need to stay there and the location is where the TV can be seen.
I understand lots of people not liking all the stuff there in the corner. The paintings have a special meaning also.
I will see what I can edit. I tried taking the planter away along with the fake plant but then all you see is the vent there. No good. I need something there.
I am probably going to put the planter back and get a fern to put in there to see how it looks.
I really would love a live plant and I have them in my home but it will not grow well in that corner. I’ve tried. That’s why the fake plant was there. But I dislike that plant that was there now.
I removed little the fake plant on the end table already.

I like Patricia's idea to angle the antique in that corner. It would free up the seating arrangement a bit.

I will try putting the antique Ice Box on an angle by the corner and see how that looks.

I moved the antique in the corner. We like the clock it has meaning to us.
The picture is of my mother and also special to us.
    What do you think?
I have one photo with the planter and a fake fern in it. It’s fake but because it’s not in the corner I’ll try a real one and see if it will grow.
But I’m not sure if I should keep the planter there or not?
I love the two paintings that were on the wall.
Can I use them on the larger wall?

Antique looks great in the corner. Now you can move the two chairs back a bit so you aren't bumping knees with those seated on the sofa. Very nice room.

You have room on the new open wall for the pictures, but try hanging them in a row horizontally.

You have made a considerable effort to arrange the den to better accomodate the antique cabinet.
The room looks very comfortable and cosy, somewhat reminiscent of the type of interior featured in the the original Sherlock Holmes films.
The fern gives a nice perky touch, too.
The revised corner ups the ambience, and shows that lots of "stuff"can enhance a space.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that helped me out with this design issue in the corner that bothered me. You all gave great suggestions and I learned from them. I moved the antique piece into the corner and moved the chairs back a bit for more room. All the pieces in that corner have a special meaning to both of us. The changes that were suggested made sense to me. The room feels more open and feels fresh. I know that the room is not everyone’s taste but it’s cozy and comfortable and we love it. Thank you again for all the help.
The last picture is the final result. I’m going to buy a real fern and hopefully it will grow there.

It looks much better! Everyone has a special piece or two that deserves a special place in our homes. If it makes you feel happy, that’s all that matters! mattersmyopinion op

I think that is an improvement for new art, so ggd position of plant matters. . But if you are going to use a faux fern, I will use a higher stand so it’s not way down there. Ferns on taller stands is a classic look. But don’t rush out to buy- -spend some time in how you might now be moving the chairs a bit or need wall space for new art, and it all needs to work together.

I hung the two paintings on the wall for now. I love them but maybe something else can look better.
I’m time I probably will look for a better choice for art. Possibly just one larger piece that is horizontal. I’ll take my time to find it.

I don't think new art is needed but a larger piece does not need to be horizontal...I suggested that for the two smaller ones.

Boston Ferns need medium to bright indirect light, no direct sunlight, so that wall is too dark, get a low intensity full spectrum grow light for it.

Water every 2-3 days and mist every day.The taller plant stand mentioned would be nice.

    Update
I found art today that I really like.
I bought it home just to try and I like it.
The background is papyrus or parchment looking in a cream color with different types of birds and some insects on it.
I like the way it looks.
I have found a place for the other two pieces of art in the house.

    Thank you again for helping.
