Have you thought about installing trim on your walls?

I would swap the tall unit and three framed pieces.

chairs facing each other, keep the window clear. Move the tree to the window.

I'd do some adjusting to this layout.

I think that a nice round coffee table or ottoman would finish off the room. I also agree with swapping the large armoire and the lower items on the wall facing the window. Do you read in the room? If so, maybe if not, I think that you might need some table or floor lamps.

You might try different artwork, a large ottoman/coffee table in the middle of the chairs, moving the chairs on the rug closer together, and swapping out the tall cabinet for a closed cabinet. I failed to mention and it does not show in the picture--the tv in the room is above the small chest. There is wiring only for a tv outlet behind the tall cabinet that may help for a solution--not sure husband would be too interested in going with that direction.

Do you have any ceiling light(s)? I only see 1 lamp in the room so I presume you have.

I would groupe the armchairs around a coffee table, find larger art that you like for the wall on the right, install some lights in your bookcase (you can get wireless ones) with some decor above and a floor lamp in the corner. Your area rug is very nice with your armchairs.

Move cabinet to the right and mount tv where the cabinet is. Artwork over another cabinet or bench to the left of tv.
