Skip the stone and stick to stucco

Yes that is one option. This is a $2M home and trying to make the entry way show that.....but may not have much option.

Adding a section of stone doesn’t make the home better though. What does the rest of the exterior look like? What do the plans call for? More context is needed.

Stone used improperly can make it look like a $900,000 home.

Show the facade rendering and a picture without the red and blue marketings. There are trims around things in that space besides the stone.

The ADU door and entry door "were" side by side and looked like a duplex. So I asked to move the ADU entrance back about 4 feet with stucco to blend in, while trying to make the main entrance more obvious. What really happened is that they mistakenly put the door frame too far to the right by about a foot. the unofficial design is the small pic below with the ADU entrance pushed back.

Honestly the stone doesn’t do anything for me, especially as it looks like you have two different other exterior finishes at least going on too. That’s too many.

agree....we will probably go with stucco only and the door framing which is wood. No other colors or finishes there. The other clutter in the photo is the various siding going on in preparation for the stucco. Its difficult to see. I think it will look cleaner with just stucco and see how we can maximize the door and sidelight framing.

Since the ADU is secondary, an idea so it doesn’t stand out as much with the doors so close is for the ADU door to be stucco colour and the front door to be wood. It will clearly show people the main entrance then. Just a thought

A sign stating "Servants Quarters" on the ADU door will do the same.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with identifying the front door clearly.

Ever since you mentioned "duplex" all I can see is a duplex.

It depends on exactly how the ADU door is camouflaged, some are more brillianter than others.

In the photo you have a door and a window ... not sure where you are going to fit a sidelight?
