potential for peel and stick tiles?

last month

Really want to change out the look of these tiles but don’t think I can justify spending thousands of dollars (and a mess) just for esthetics. Has anyone used peel and stick tiles before and had a good experience? Love the look of the checkerboard tiles. Any other cheaper options besides new tiles are welcomed.

Assuming this is a laundry/ mud room and the black mat is by the door? Do tiles go into the kitchen too? Will you be stickering all of it? I’d probably research paint before I tried stickers, but my first thought would be distract with wallpaper or paint on the walls and rugs/ runners. At least stickers are reversible and you can always test it out before committing

Peel and stick really do not stick but for about a week. Use that color on the floor as your inspiration to keep them and work with them.

The room is in our basement off of the garage. Wondering if just regrouting with something brighter could help.

The floor tiles look like ceramic tiles with rounded edges. Peel and stick tiles will telegraph the grout line pattern right through. Consider using a large rug instead.

The tiles don't look bad, but the rest of the room is colorless, bland, and boring. I had the same reaction as some of the earlier posters who suggested getting more color into the room that harmonizes with the floor. Either paint or even wallpaper to liven things up, and then find a synthetic easy to clean area rug to cover some of the color that you don't really love but still tie it in with the walls. I don't think any kind of vinyl tiles will work over a ceramic or porcelain tile floor.

You'd be surprised at how tiles will look so much better after a good cleaning - especially when the grout becomes discolored (darker). Buy some The Pink Stuff and a rotating scrubber. They both work separately - but together they really make a huge difference (and it's easier to do using both together vs. more manual labor).

You can find it on Amazon/Walmart/Target/etc. It's about $5. Purchase the PASTE version.

These are also available at various places - I bought one off of Amazon for about $35-40. It works well on many things - ovens/windows/sinks/tubs/tiles/grout/mirrors/etc.

I would definitely would at least purchase The Pink Stuff in order to clean a small section (you can use a toothbrush). Once you see how much better your grout/tiles look, then you can order the rechargeable cleaning brush which will make it easier/faster to clean your floors.
