Likes shade enough but does (lots) better in sun

This disccussion comes up here occasionally. I am reminded of it whenever I see this long established "Old Fashioned Bleeding Heart" (not mine but the next door neighbour).

This plant is in full sun.

Wow! I wish mine looked that good. Our summers are hot so it might not like full sun here but after seeing that one, I think I may trim some branches up so it will get more morning sun at least.

Wow indeed! I have never seen one so large. I am going to plant one in full sun (well, maybe part-sun, at least more than my poor pathetic one gets). We ger so hot in the summer (zone 7, Northern Virginia). I would be thrilled to be able to have one grow so huge and beautiful.

There is something special about the DNA of this particular specimen ;). Even after being significantly disturbed when right next to it a tree was removed and then replaced, it hardly skipped a beat.
