Kitchens Design Dilemma

Keep or remove the overhead structure? thoughts on the upper cabinets?

We’ve already replaced the base cabinets with IKEA light oak drawers. We’re struggling on upper cabinet decision whether to remove the structure to allow 43” uppers. This is in Florida and our home has coastal colors. Is this the best color for cabinets?

I would definitely remove the false ceiling and wall. It dates the space and does nothing for the architectural details of the cathedral ceiling.

I would remove the structure but I think I'd be more creative with the lights than track lighting.

I would also remove that faux-ceiling. Why have high vaulted ceilings and then add back a lower/squat structure? Not the worst I have seen for FL!

I’d remove in a heartbeat…will be less dated, but more importantly feel more spacious. Consider adding pot lights, as well as pendants over the island (both on dimmers).
